OK now that I know for sure that I have one of those puny HY35 turbo's on my Ram I need some insight with regards to a turbo swap. I am considering getting a HX40... Any comments either pro or con are appreciated. If I decide to go this route are there any mods that people have done to the turbo to help with spool-up? Also where is the best place to purchase on new HX40 and have any mods performed?

The turbo is going on a 2001. 5, auto, PE-EZ going in today, DTT TC and VB to come, along with stage III injectors. Truck is used mainly for cruising (or taking on powerstrokes) and sees very minimal towing (one or twice a year with 4000lbs load).

Any help or ideas will be greatly appreciated.

for purchase--sportbike--jmf1223@msn.com--
email him---
Mods= Majestic talk to sportbike & then call Majestic--800-297-3626--this will add about $310 or so to the turbo

do you need to massage the turbo is a question where you're going to get answers saying yes and no----there are guys who have and haven't massaged the HX40 and are quite pleased with the results and the same can be said for those who have massaged, so basically do what you think is best---chris

You should go to a 4" exhaust system if you don't have one already. On top of that you'll need a down pipe designed for the HX40. The HX40 hooks to the exhaust pipe differently than the 35 does.

The HX40 is a sweet turbo it has a very desireable compressor map the only problem is I would like to see a smaller turbine housing as for majestic Do not let them lighten that turbo up you will be asking for trouble balancing is fine but when that turbo hits around 40 lbs of boost it is turning close to 115,000 rpm do not let them do there "race prep" or whatever it is they call it eventually the turbo will explode the turbine wheel or snap the shaft this is my . 02

just spoke to Majestic--they don't clip, they bullet both sides, machine the outside where the hoses connect, as they come rough from Holset, and they balance them---Chris
