You need to post this over on "engine accsessories" where the guys talk nothing but turbo and fuel systems.

There is some good info there, but sometimes confusing as it's stated that a "turbo" will work well multiplying pressure 2 to 2. 5 times atmosphere. So I don't know how guys can use a single charger that builds 50 psi.

Still working on that so I am.

HX40's are on still on the map in the 44-45psi range, but after you factor in pressure loss through the intercooler and add a margin of error, 38-39psi manifold pressure is a good number.

there are singles that still do pretty good at 50psi, but the HX40 isn't one of them.

this is why i'm wondering. i only saw about 37psi at wot today. i think that might have something to do with my "slight" miscalculation when adapting the 12cm housing to the 40. temps took a WHOLE lot longer to get to 1550* though, i tell you what.

cut the housing. could have done a better job, too. oh well. the cartridge is one i found at a junkyard. pretty much shot, but i had an extra housing so i thought i'd try it out.

it wasn't too hard. i just wasn't thinking and started cutting the housing to the od of the turbine wheel on the cartridge side instead of the outlet side. i realized my mistake when i was about 1/4" to big (overall, 1/8" on each side. ) anyway, it drove and i had a little fun. i'll be pulling it tomorrow though. i was a little puckered every time i put my foot in it.

You sure your intercooler isn't letting anything higher than that escape into the atmosphere? Have you pressure checked the intercooler and whole system? You'd be surprised of all the leaks. I'm thinking my IC will only hold 40psi... . it cools nicely, but its a leaker... .

pretty sure it's ok. but i haven't checked it. i've seen 40 psi from the h1c though. i think only seeing 37 psi has more do with how much gas was able to get by the turbine fan than anything. i am going to be checking the air system soon though.

I'm shopping for one........

Swank,

Next time our local "Bookmobile" camps out here in front of our elementary school, I'm gonna grab that HX40 when they ain't looking :-laf

Talk about power complaint. Luv to see the look on the service tech who troubleshoots that one
