Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) HY35 to a HX40 ??

what will i see in performance if i upgrade to a Hx40 or a B1 from a HY35 ?

and what shoud i go with? what is the best out there? i know bigger is not always better

You will lower egts and clean up smoke. A b1 is better but alot more money. I chose a 40 so I could add twins later. a hx40 is a common turbo to put in a twin set.

Do you have bigger injectors?

Also you are going to have a much slower spool-up.

Along with a better top end charge. ( more power above 2200 or so ).

A 40 is a god choice, consider some bigger injectors to help spool the turbo.

You will see more smoke when starting to spool but it will clean up fairly quik.

You should get more HP then you have now..... But what will really be noticable is more usable HP. You have the comp now and I would bet with it on level 5 and a HX-40 you will have no egt issues. Please remember not all HX-40's are created equal, personally I feel that Piers' is the best available.
