2) my HY35 inlet clamps to the Exhaust charger. does the HX clamp or bolt?

3) my HY35 turbocharger bolts to the exhaust. Does the HY bolt or clamp to the exhaust?

Tom, I've not done this switch but am the previous user of an HX-35 and can answer a couple of your questions.

[I believe the whole thing is replaced]

[Compressor outlet clamps to ducting to intercooler]
3) my HY35 turbocharger bolts to the exhaust. Does the HY bolt or clamp to the exhaust?
[Bolts, 2 bolts through collar with flanged exhaust pipe]
4) exactly what parts am I going to need #ad

[To begin with, new gaskets for oil outlet, exhaust (turbo to exhaust manifold)]

<font color = blue> The previous post in response to yours is right on the money with the answers. I made this change myself last month and so far have no regrets. You might want to consider talking to Piers at BD in Canada for any supplementary questions you might still have. As far as a "cheap HX35"is concerned, you get what you pay for and you pay for what you get. Demand > supply, so you'll find it tough!!

Tom,

I made this switch and frankly wasn't that pleased with the results, but I was running alot more power than you.

The swap took about an hour, and I used no new gaskets. And all you need are some basic hand tools. I'm just guessing, here it goes. 15mm socket, 15mm end wrench, 7/16 deep socket, 10mm socket, 5/16 nut driver, and 3/4 end wrench.

There are one or two for sale in the classifieds.

Geno's pillar mount combo guage, HX40, Jardine Exhaust, 5"
chrom tip, PE EZ, Hot PE box, DDIIs, Dunrite TC, Transgo shift kit, and K&N RE-0880 (soon to add Psycotty).

One my turbo the Compression housing is clamped to the exhaust housing. the exhaust housing is bolter to the exhaust manifold and bolted with 4 bolts to a turn down pipe that bolt to the exhaust pipe with 2 bolts.

1) will I need to replace the turn down pipe? I have read somewhere of how some turbos clamp to the exhaust.

2) are the oil line fitting the same between the two?

3) If I get a new or used turbo it should come with the Exhaust housing, compression housing, and turn down pipe?

thanks for the replys

Kevin I can't recall exactly what mods you have but I think you might be happier with an HX40. The HX35 didn't do much for me.

BPete. . this is actually for a different truck. It's going to go on a 2k1. 5 Auto that has the HY35. I just personally like the ability to change the exhaust housing on the HX-35 better.

Thanks

Kev
