Bought an HY35W to mount on a 4bt and want to know if the intake can be rotated out 90 degrees to a horizontal output position. This would rotate the oil passage inlet and outlets to a somewhat horizontal position.

Once you get the exhaust housing mounted up you can clock the center section of the turbo to where you want it. Loosen the band clamp around the center section to exhaust housing joint and turn the center section where you want it. Tighten it back up. Then squeeze the snap ring on the back of the compressor housing to rotate it to where you want it. Be careful not to squeeze it too tight or the compressor side can pop off, just enough to turn it with some effort.

Thanks for the reply. My unit has a v band with a loosening nut. I have no problem rotating the compressor. Just want to know if the oil passage orientation is critical for proper bearing lubrication. The oil inlet is normaly on top and I want to rotate the compressor section 90 degrees or more. This would put the exiting oil port closer to the top... not the bottom.

i think your not understanding us. . your turbo is 3 piesecs the center section and the turbine (hot) side and the compressor(cold) side..... so your intake / compressor side can pivot independant of the center section that has the oil ports and holds the shaft.

My Most humble apology. I pulled the unit inside the house to look closer and I see what you are saying.



Since I'm writing this. . Do you know where I can get a gasket and clamp for the boosted air outlet? want to use some 2. 5" 316L tubing I have laying around. Would like to weld to some sort of fitting for that port.
