Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. Usually the TDR emails me when there was a reply to this thread, but it didn't. I just checked on it randomly. I do have the stock exhaust manifold as well as the stock downpipe. Then next thing I would change is the downpipe to try to free up some more egt's, but everything after the downpipe is bigger than stock, so I'm not sure how much more this will help. I guess every little bit counts. As far as the manifold goes, I guess there are some good aftermarket ones out there, but I was trying to keep the cost manageable and that didn't really seem like a worthwhile endeavor at this point. I have tried the Smarty on 5 empty and it does spool the turbo quicker and give a better response, but adds more smoke and egt's, so not really worth it unless I'm playing around with another driver. That doesn't happen to often-I try to avoid it. I drive a truck for a living and if I messed up my license then I couldn't afford to pay for the toys for the Dodge.

Can you ride the V-Max all year round out there? In CT the weather usually goes bad in late November or early December. I'll ride when it's above 35*F, but once the first snow storm hits and the road salt comes out, I put it away for the winter. My last bike started to rot away from the road salt, so when I got this one I refused to take it out after the first plowable storm. Usually have to wait until mid to late March to ride again.

Well I was thinking that it might be a good time to upgrade the manifold while the turbo was off. As far as I know, it's not cracked or noticeably shrunk, so I might just as well hold on to the $500... unless I can talk them or myself into a package deal. My downpipe is 4" immediately after the turbo elbow.

As for riding year-round in Vegas, I'd say so. Due to the lack of moisture, the roads are clear. But don't let the winter sunshine fool you, 30* in the morning is still freezing, I don't care if you do own a pair of snowshoes. We make up for it in the summertime though. It's been hitting over 105* almost every day for the last 2 months. The hottest I've ridden in is 115*, and that's with full gear plus a cooling vest. I can make it the 25 miles home before the life gets sucked out of me. I drove the truck to work the past 2 days for various reasons. I love it, but it didn't feel quite right. Apparently, I'm a motorcyclist now.
