Big Mak,
I recently had my Master give up the ghost on my 04. 5.
I run the 3850lb setup.
I don't know if there is something better than the 94-97 setup.
But, thats what I am running now.
I am still in the tuning process getting the new Master/clutch rod adjusted correctly.
What you will need to do is cut the shorter rod up towards the pedal side and (3/8") thread each end.
Then between the 2 add a double ended nut (approx 1" long), like the type used on all thread.
Also, add a small locking nut so you don't have travel once adjusted.
Your pedal will sit lower in the cab by about 4".
The setup is tougher overall.
DO NOT mess with the slave rod, it is self adjusting.
The Master is the one that needs cut.
Also for best price purchase the new kit (master and slave) for 94-98 trucks from EEP.
They are right around $130.
If anyone is running a DD in a 3rd gen and has not popped a master yet, you are on borrowed time.
So I suggest having the new unit laying around.
