Finally got a reply from Deweze folks on the add-on under the hood hydraulic pump. Here's the part # and price to fit the 2000 model:
The kit number is 700318-9. your cost is $965. 00. This does not include a reservoir
or hoses. I also called PTO Specialties and got a price for PTO & Pump for less than $700. Looks like the power steering pump will have to do for now. Guess I should check out the price of a new power steering pump.

hey-Pilgram---waitaminnit! I forgot something on my other post---(unfortunately, the information that I remember now may not really be current anymore, but it was 10+ years ago---- Milemarker warns of motor failure on the electrics, right? sounds catastrophic, don't it? mayn't be as nasty as it sounds, because the drive motors that I saw on many, many winches Braden made (like the ones badged as "WARN") were none other than the readily available "brand F" truck starter, with, I presume, a modified bendix, or, more likely no bendix atall. I'd have to confirm whether that's still the case, and if so, would a "trail repair" (removal and replacement) be easy or not, but that may be simpler, and certainly cheaper than a blown steering system---a million years ago, a Ford starter (for a 352 v8) was $35 re-man w/exchange---rich

I have heard this "blown power steering pump" thing 100 time second hand but have not seen one post from anyone who has had one blow on them. Do you know anyone personally that this has happened to? I would like to hear from someone who had a pump fail. Please point them in my direction.

I did read one post in a 4X4 forum from a guy with a Jeep who pissed & moaned about his installation and how the hoses were too long or short and this and that didn't fit, Had leaks, etc. But after he got passed all that, He was pretty satisfied.

I have used my winch 3 times in the last month. 2 were easy pulls, pulling other cars out and 1 I had to rev the engine to pull myself out of a mudhole I was stuck so hard. Every pull I kept a close watch on the hydraulic fluid temperature. It got hot but never to hot to hold my hand on for any length of time. I would say that is nothing to worry about. I still plan on adding a cooler and a filter just to be on the safe side. If nothing else it will increase the amount of fluid in the system.

AGR advertises in the 4 wheeler magazines. I called them once about a high capacity power steering pump they offer. The company promises their pump will double the line speed of the Milemarker and be more reliable. The pump was only about $140. They also offer a cooler which looks like a quality design and its price is reasonable too. No website yet, so, if interested, you'll have to call them. Scan through 4 Wheel and Offroad to find their phone number.
