Has anyone out there ever put a hydraulic dump bed on a 1st gen? By sayin this I mean making the stock truck a tilt bed ,not adding a flatbed. If so is there any pics or websites that a guy could go to to get ideas for this. Not really needed just something I thought would be kinda neat.

I get a catalog from Northern Hydraulics (or Northern "something" - can't remember right now) once in a while, and I recall they have a hydraulic dump bed kit that utilized the factory bed. Somewhere between $800 - $1200 dollars if memory serves me. Might check them out if you're serious. I contemplated adding one to my '93, but decided against it since I haul a slide in camper most of the time, and worried about the bed staying secure to the truck frame after the conversion.

The name is Northern Tools now.

If you decide on this type of dump. Here is something to think of. The bumper will have to be eather welded to the bed or removed. The bed tipping will not clear it. If you attach it to the bed. You loose all ability of ever towing with it.

If you have a class 3 hitch. It will have to be removed to clear the bumper if you attach it to the bed.

I had a friend do this once. The truck found a new home not to long after the swap. He needed towing ability.
