Thanks, TDR Staff

I've been bitten pretty hard.

has anyone done a hydroboost conversion on there 1st gen truck? if so what all parts you use. i found a universal kit and 1 for the 94-98 trucks.

should be pretty similar... really all you need are some lines and to tap a return line to the back of the resovoir or maybe use a resovoir off a hydraboost truck...

Since I've established myself as "Village Idiot," I'll ask..... what's a hydroboost conversion, and why is a good thing?

Thanks for suffering my ignorance.

Here is a pic of the GM hydroboost unit.

You would remove the vacuum booster that D/C uses and replace it with it. It uses the power steering pump instead of vacumm to add power assist to the brakes.

You would still need the vacuum pump on the truck. The heater/AC uses vacumm to move the doors in the heater box.

Myself I don't think it is worth the effort to swap over. You are still using engine driven components to supply power to eather style of booster. Switching to the hrdroboost will not remove any of the driven pumps D/C has installed from the factory.

Phil the only dumb question is the one you don't ask. So ask away. Someone here will most likely know the answer.
