Hydroboost unit is 1/4 short on the brake pedal rod

Has anyone ran into this problem ? I thought my hydroboost was giving me a soft brake and ABS light so I swapped one out at CARQUEST. The one I took home is 1/4 in shorter on the actuater rod coming from firewall preventing brake switch from being OFF . They sent the core back and now that a shop owner told me he needs to purge the system , I don't even think the hydroboost was bad as it was replaced with a reman just three years ago and was not leaking . This is a tough spot as we need our 03 to haul dirt and tear out on our next job #@$%!

Tried to delete the post and could not figure out how. Solution to shorter rod ? Bent brake switch bracket back with pry bar and now it takes up the brake switch. Next will be to find the soft bt
rake ABS light problem ONLY WHEN ENGINE IS STARTED ,hard pedal when not running
