People can hear it over my 4 inch exhaust! Started a few days ago. Happens at certain RPM's and only while driving (GRRRRRR). I can always duplicate it at 40 MPH cruising down grade in gear at about 1600 RPM. I get it intermittently at other speeds and loads. It seems to be vibration (harmonics) related. It sounds like steel againsed sheetmetal. I WD 40'd all the rubber bushings, (alot of post road salt suspension squeaks there) but this is different. I thought, in fact, I was sure I had a loose exhaust pipe or hanger. Nope, tight as can be. Can't even pin point the area, cause I can't run 40 mph. Any one else have this problem? Could it be motor mounts? How can I check them?

I even replaced the fan belt. The squeal can be just as loud, sounds similar but very subject to slight changes in RPM/Load. Belts tend to be easy to squeal if you try and have a bad one.

Frustration is building.

Aye, that it was. One of the bearing cups in the u-joint dried up. Both u-joints in the rear driveline are replaced. The guy who did the job. . . well, that's another story. Let me just say that I won't be getting 70,000 miles out of these joints  :(
