Thinking about hot rodding my 2001 Dodge ram quad cab 4wd auto. I would like to make it come up out of the hole a little quicker and maybe do some nice burnouts.

Who has the best chip? A guy i used to work with will sell me his tst one for $300 and will give me a 40hp boost.

Will I have to go to work on my transmission?

Exhaust, I want it sound mean. Any recommendations? I can't seem to find anyone locally who bends or stock 4" pipe. I have seen some online at stan's and bd. I want a straight pipe. Anyone use either one?

Welcome to the TDR, We all welcome new Ram lovers. We use and install Power-Edge products on all of our trucks. I would recomend a EZ or a Comp module depending on what level of performance you are after. They are very reliable and big power for little money. If you go beyond an EZ you will need to look into some transmission mods, the stock transmission is ok but the torque converter will not hold up. You may also want a valve body exchange, depending on the performance desired. My choice of exhaust would be ATS Duel stainless steel, Very nice sound and looks are even better.

I'ts very hard to say, most people claim a 1 to 3 MPG gain, I have never experienced more than a . 5 to 1 MPG gain, but the power is nice.

CCANNON is right on the money about the Edge products. I think you might like the EZ. It produces something like 60 hp and you will not need to beef up the transmission. On the exhaust, ATS stainless is nice but not the only game in town. I don't know how much it is but you can get a complete 4" system for just over $400 delivered to your house. I put mine on in about an hour. Real nice sound and with a 5" tip it gets a lot of questions.....

Before you do anything to that truck... at a minimum put a boost gauge and Pyrometer on it.

then address the transmission.

then start adding fuel

Hey bro,

You are a spit away from me. When I get back from vacation we'll have to hook up. There are plenty of places to buy the goodies. If you like to drag race, a few of us head to Muncie Dragway for test and tune on Wednesday's. There's another member on here from Eaton, works in Richmond. Plenty of help around here for turning the truck up, and many options.

As Diesel Freak mentioned, I would start with gauges and transmission work then fuel, unless you are wanting to just give the mighty Cummins a small bump in hp. I will warn you though, many have tried the small increase route only to find it wasn't enough!:D
