Your friend could correct his own problem with at least one gas container and another motorist with a gas powered car or truck that is willing to accept free gasoline tainted by a very small quantity of diesel fuel.

All he has to do is place a catch container under the fuel filter housing and open the drain petcock on the bottom of his fuel filter cannister. It will take some time but he can pump the gas out of his truck by simply recycling the fuel transfer pump. Every time he bumps the starter the fuel transfer pump will cycle on and run for 25 seconds.

The process would go a lot faster if he could also siphon most of the gas directly out of his fuel tank into another car or truck whose owner wants it. Many St. Louis locals would be happy to accept 30 gallons of free $3/gallon gasoline if offered. There are a couple of ratty truck stops nearby and probably a few locals with old gas carbureted engines around.

Once he removes all or almost all of the gasoline from his system he can dump five gallons of diesel fuel in and start the fuel transfer pump again. He can bleed the gas and air out of his injection pump and injectors by cracking open lines before and after the injection pump.

I bled the air out of a cowboy's Dodge and got it running at the Flying J at Cheyenne, WY in the summer of 2001 shortly after I got my Dodge and joined TDR. I had never touched one but had read this procedure on TDR.
