I am cursed 53 block again

So I thought I had really gotten lucky this time but the steam cleaner proved me wrong !! How many of these pieces of crap did they make? So the next question is if I get a different block that has the different thread style on the block how do I make them work ?

Are you talking about the sensors? There are adapters.

Mine leaked at 18K. Ram installed a new shortblock. Another 53. Then my lift pump died a few thousand miles more.
Crummy brakes on the 98.5 2500 auto. I almost didn't buy another Ram after that one. My '07 has been a much better truck.

Never had any complaints other than the 53 block I don’t know that I’ve ever driven a truck with much better brakes

Is it a 2500 auto? The six speed 2500's and 3500 had Dana 80's.
When I bought my '07 I felt I finally had competent brakes.

Anybody know how to measure the block for thickness? I can’t get a good measurement.

Saw a 53 block that had the side cut out of it. The water jacket was less than 1/4" in places. Not very reassuring.

.260 is the minimum spec from cummins

Guess I got lucky when I bought my 99 in 5/01, before I even heard about 53 block, it's not a 53. Whew...

I’ve had 5 of these early build date 99 the current one is actually built in March of 1998 and outta five trucks and 6 engines now I’ve only seen two 53 blocks
