84,000 miles I can get it for $9900. 00 Not in bad shape. Is this thing hard to work on? I change my own oil and fuel filters. I know there is something about removing an intake manifold at some point to be cleaned, when is this done? Is it expensive?

83,000 miles... . man... it's just broke in. I'ed go for it. We bought ours as a repo with 10k miles. I'm feeling like a genius right now with todays fuel prices.

Freds TDI is the place to go if you need questions answered. As far as the timing belt thing. . there's a few special tools you need. I don't think I would tackle the job myself (my shop is the tailgate of the Cummins), but you can get more info on Freds.

My biggest gripe on the Jetta is the lack of torque on take-off. But then... getting out of a Dodge/Cummins and hopping in the Jetta isn't a fair comparison. Overall, the Jetta hauls *ss. And the mileage... . well there's only two cars that are better. . and they're both hybrids.

Removing the intake manifold is pretty easy...

A lot of folks don't remove the intake to clean out the lovely crud formed from the mixture of EGR soot and crankcase vapors... Mine was clogged BIGtime on my '98 New Beetle... I mucked it out with a big screwdriver and a shop vac.

Altering the EGR adaptation with VAG-COM is a quick and easy 'fix' for the EGR duty cycle issue.
