Hello everyone,

I am a newbie here and I want to thank everyone that has given their time to reply to posts here in the forum. I have found some great info.

Soon I will be in the market for the upgrade steering 8. 5+ from the y to the t..... all u joints including front axle ones. Steering box and or brace. I am also thinking of getting the Carli 2. 5 pin top with the full rear spring pack and long travel air bags. I have the carli upper and lower ball joints on order through carli at this time.

Any info of these up grades would be great. I have spent countless hrs doing research for a better ride, and would like to have some pros and cons on doing this mod.

My truck 06 dodge 3500 drw Quad Cab long bed 4x4 6-speed, B&W 5th wheel hitch, after market front and rear bumpers and winch. I do lots of off road driving and tow my 5er a few times a yr. So I am not looking for a lift kit just an awesome ride so I will not worry about hitting bumps that might break something, or throw me around in the cab

Thank you so much for your time.

I dont know about that bumper but if you like it well then send it. I am running the carli bilstein 2. 0 7100 shocks and they do pretty well. If you are going to keep that massive bumper I would for sure want the bigger shocks. Are the full leaves really worth it for a dually??? Ask about a stiffer spring to help with that big ol bumper

I put in a set of '988' springs to compensate for a 9 ft boss V plow. I think the ride is fine with the plow on or off but some on this site have complained that it is harsh. The ride height, after a few miles ended up about 3/4 inch higher.

Thuren or Carli Suspension will be good choices and when you call them and let them know what you got going on they can and will compensate for the added weight of the bumber. I'm just about ready to put in my order for a full system. I chose the Thuren system but that decision was based on many variables. Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.

Yes I know that the bumper is to the extreme... . but I need good protection. Thank you all for your info... . I will make sure I let Carli know everything about my truck. I just wanted to ask for some advice. I wanted to make the best choice because I do not have the time or the money to do it twice. Thanks again everyone. Feel free to add anything else, I am here lurking around.

When your behind the wheel and alone, do you ever get the urge to yell, "I'm king of the world!!!" :-laf
Just Kidding! Thats a gorgeous truck and the bumper is badass.

Well to tell the truth I really dont slow down when people pull out in front of me I just hope for the best, and to tell another secret when at a red light or stop sign or pulling out of a parking lot and someone behind me honks their horn, I really dont get mad any more cuz I have an after market bumper on the rear also, sometimes I just let everyone go by before I pull out.

Thank you my truck is just a work in progress.

I think you are definitely on the right track!

Call Thuren too (thurenfabrication) and ask his opinion. Carli and Thuren both make great stuff!!

I have Carli systems on both my trucks. Both have the full rear leaf packs. I have the long travel airbags on the one I tow with most. Even with out the bags a 750 lb t/weight is fine. I probably should upgrades 7100 shocks up to the 2,5s

Thanks for the compliments!

BOB4x4, Thank you for your info,I do lots of off road driving for work and also on some pretty bad dirt roads, but I still have to be able to pull my 5er also.

I am kinda tight when it comes to $$$, I just wanted to know if I was headed in the right direction, and it looks like I might be for a change.

Thank you all, and thanks to everyones advice..... I appreciate it.

this type of bumper protection is needed here in N. E. Texas... we have so much cover near the roads that whitetail deer can jump out and "commit suicide" at any given moment. Its always a good idea to have a meat tenderizer on the front of your truck!

Definitely discuss the big bumper with Carli or Don. That's a lot of leverage and weight affecting the front springs. They can adjust the shock valving for you,but spring rate is another concern.

I'd love to get some protective bumpers for mine.

Thanks to everyone on all the advice, I am working with Don to see what he has. I have already talked to Carli and got thier ideas. I am going to pull the trigger very soon. I will let everyone know what I went with and how I like it... ... thanks again!

I started another thread but have not had any replies..... I believe my A/C is going out. Need help on where to by parts.

Thanks... ... . sometimes I want replies too soon... ...

thanks to everyones advice... . I am still talking to Don..... going to work something out. Now I only need to find a shop near Waco, Tx. (this is where I am working at this time).

Any ideas of a 4x4 shop?

ask about his drag link. I got the 08 steering from Don along with his sway bar, control arms and track bar. If I had known about his drag link I would have bought at the same time. You can install all of this your self with out any crazy tooling.

Hello Andy, May I ask where you got your 08 steering? Don is upon his game we have been working on a list... . the install..... I would think I could do it all but not sure about the ball joints... . I have read a lot on this subject and have seen a few pictures... . I just dont know if it is worth all the trouble... . my truck down time is limited to one Sunday a week..... Please advise...

The install of the updated steering linkage goes pretty fast of course your skill level will come into play. Be sure you understand the adjustments or take it some one who does
