Three o'clock this afternoon. On I-15 northbound. Roads slushy/snowpacked in places. The mighty Ram turns over 100,000. Bought new in June 1998. 30 months later I break the 6 digit mark. Thats about 3300 miles a month. The Mighty One has never left me stranded, always got me there and home again. I love this truck! Now I am truely my own warranty station.

Welcome to the "warranty is history" club. My '95 just rolled up 150K. It's kind of wounded right now, compliments of a deer on US101. Going in the shop today. Runs great when it's not killing deer. #ad

Warranty?? What the heck is a warranty?
Both of my trucks were bought with over 100k on the meter. It is kind of nice not having to worry about voiding the warranty.
BUT it's no fun paying for major repairs($2000 transmission rebuild). I still think the good outweighs the bad. Luckily I know how to turn a wrench or two.

The guys at Northcoast Auto here in Eureka are applying their skilled hands to the Green Monster's miseries right now. He will be just fine when they get thru. I'm gonna take his hunting license away! Insurance company is going to have a fainting spell when they get the bill. #ad

I have to say, there is just something that great about what you said. The RAM is a realy good truck. The best ride I ever had.

I can just see the headlines now "Animal Activists sue Daimler/Chrysler Corp for Killing Defenseless Deer with Ram" #ad
.

I didn't even know these things came with a warranty - Dang, looks like I wasted mine by not having any problems serious enough for a visit to a dealer - although the horn does sound terrible and I should get it fixed in the next 10 months or 10,000 miles (whichever occures first).

I just got my truck from Northcoast Auto. It looks new. They were finished with it a little sooner than they thought. The last hour of the job was at a local body shop. The service manager didn't like the way the bumper fit so he sent it to the body shop to get the alignment just right. They were even a few bucks under the original estimate and washed the truck. Probably drive different without the accumulated mud. I stopped by the insurance office the way to pick it up and the clerk saw us pull up in front so she came out and gave us the check before we had a chance to get out of the car. It's great living in a town small enuff that people know you.

So if any of you ever need service in this neck of the woods you know where to take your Ram. I'm a lot happier than I was when the Green Monster got hisself a deer. #ad

I've been my own warranty station since the truck was new. I once talked with a Dodge service technician I met at a social gathering and he told me this... . "Diesel? We make a Diesel?". With dummies like this, I'd rather pay for the occasional new car problems than let the morons put their grimy little fingers on my 35,000 dollar toy. You've all gotta remember, the idiots who just get out of technical school don't know much about all they've just learned. Most have never fiddled with their own cars for years. So they get a grease boy job at the local dealership. And they learn while working on your car. Does not entice me to bring mine in for service. I've had my hands in automotive work since I was nine or ten working on my Dad's and my uncle's cars with them. That's where I learned everything, all the little tricks they don't teach you. Like how to use your tools to your advantage.

Chris, that is about the most accurate statement about DC service technicians I have ever read. I know there are some out there who DO know what they are doing when it comes to our Cummins motors, but I've never found one around here. I've been doing my own work for years, probably not the right way, but at least I know what I've done to it.

Yah, yah, what DieselB59 said. Even the guys that know what there doing aren’t that good. They get paid a flat rate to do the job so there in a big hurry to get it done. I've never had a good experience with an auto repair mechanic (exception: Bpine #ad
). It's always something. If the job is done right then there's a BIG WHAD OF GREESE on my seat #ad

Cliffman,

Maybe you otta drive 300 miles north if you want to find a good dealer. Everything I've had them do on my truck or my wife's car has been first rate. The vehicles have been cleaner when we get them back than before the job. I think the owner of the place would have a big time fit if there was any grease inside after they were done. And they DO have a guy who knows about these Cummins engines. I do everything I can do without taking it to them, but sometimes (especially if insurance or warranty covers it) if I don't have the tools to do the job I take it to them. Very happy with their attitude and work so far. The service manager isn't wearing a dirty Dale Earnhart jacket like one bay area service manager was when I had a small warranty job (a-pillar) done a few years ago.
