I now have a LWB truck and am considering the B&W Turnover Ball setup with the Companion 5th Wheel Adapter.

I read where the B&W sits about 4-5" ahead of the rear axle centerline.

Does the kingpin connection point also sit 4-5" ahead of the rear axle centerline?

Will I have enough room to couple up with my tailgate down while using the Companion 5th Wheel Adapter?

That is really going to depend on your trailer, some have more clearance from hitch to drop down of goosneck/5'vr than others.

The goose-neck ball does sit 4-5 inches in front of the axle. With the companion hitch installed the kingpin mounting point can be adjusted to slightly ahead of the rear axle to what looks like 4-5 inches behind the axle. Installed mine 2 weeks ago and went on a few test runs over some very bumpy roads - I have not noticed any movement or flex in the hitch like some people have commented.

I have one and love it. Best price I have seen it $470. 00.

Was that to the companion hitch and the gooseneck? I'm wondering if I should consider putting one in my '04 instead of the Reese/Drawtite I have now.

Jumbo Jet, the only thing I would change about the installation would be to paint the mounting brackets black before installing. You see the mounting brackets over the wheels and although they don't look bad, I think they would look a lot better painted black to match the frame instead of grey.

After seeing their installation instructions on the Web, I had already planned on painting the mounting brackets. My neighbor has a Red truck with someone's gooseneck hitch that has grey mounting brackets. Looks bad.

Thanks for all the help.

I am interested in any comments from other 3rd gen owners who have installed the Turnoverball + 5th wheel companion hitch in reference to flexing or bucking. I am seriously considering this combo, but would find it unexceptable to have any flexing with such a high-quality product.
