I have some I beam lyin around 8" high 6" wide. Would this make a good front bumper? Or is it to heavy for the front i am pretty sure it is fine for the rear .

If your idea of a good front bumper is one you can run over an oak tree with little damage, yeah it would make a good bumper. But with the ball joint problems our trucks have stock, I would be leary of adding extra weight to the front end. Plus, unless you trimmed alot of the fat off it and fabbed it up real nice, I would think it would be kinda ugly, just a big I beam bolted on up there. But some people love that Mad Max bumper style:-laf Just my 2 cents though, I'm pickier about my truck than alot of people, my opinion is usually taken with a grain of salt by most people I know;)

I have grill gaurd at the house could put it back on . I thought it would be to heavy . My ball joints are gone now truck is sittin at home found them last night

That beam could be anywhere from W8x18 to W8x28 based on your description. If you figure the worst case, a W8x28 and 6' long the beam itself only weighs 168 lbs. , not too bad. The look is well, let's just say subjective...

If you want to push over some oak trees we've got some real beams you could use...

My ARB Sahara bar is designed for a winch but I just fit a receiver hitch in it weighs in at a solid 200 or so pounds. I did balljoints at 100K as insurance. I have had the bumper on there since about 40K.
