I finally got enough time off from work to be able to work on my truck:D . In the last 2 weeks I installed a 14cm2 wastgated housing(after over 300k miles that stock turbo was a bear to separate). Then I removed the bed to scale the loose Ziebart/rust from most of the frame. I painted the frame w/semi-gloss Rustoleum(looks pretty good). While I had the bed off I installed new Skyjacker Nitro shocks then ran new supply and return lines for the fuel and hung the new 3" exhaust (turbo-back). (4" would have probably been better for my ego but I already had the Janetty system before I found out about Rip Rook). I put in the Fleetguard BHAF w/Outerwears prefilter. Haven't fully mouted it yet, just have a rainguard temporarly installed, Old Smokey's system looks promising. Just last night I installed a Skyjacker 2" lift front suspension. Now my truck sits level, not "nose-down". My original front springs were shot, I yielded a 3"+ gain in front height from that 2" lift. Oh yeah, and I changed the oil. This truck is really coming around.

As Jackie Gleason used to say - "how sweeeeet it is". I too have the 14cm2 turbo and I am quite happy with my '93. It gets better as you add more & more:D It also gets addictive:D

Happier trails

Nice!

As happy as I am with my truck, I wish I had the money and time to do the same thing! With the salt on the Anchorage roads, mine's starting to rust seriously in a couple of places. :(

The rust removal wasn't very expensive, after I removed the bed(jacked it up until I could get horses under it then just drove out from under it) I used a $15 sandblaster and about $6 worth of sand to scale the flaking Ziebart/rust from the frame then used 2 cans of paint. The blasting and painting only took 4-5 hrs. The most expensive parts of the job are getting the use of an air compressor and buying a respirator($40) DON'T EVEN THINK OF SANDBLASTING WITHOUT A RESPIRATOR. The silica does nasty things to your lungs.

Without the bed in place, welding the exhaust brackets on was much easier. After having a straight pipe that empties just behind the cab the new exhaust is almost too quiet.

So far, I think that I am going to like the 14cm2 housing. With no pump tweaking (that and injectors are next) I am only getting about 4 more lbs of boost (18 now), but it seems to come on more quickly and be in a more useable place, RPM-wise.

With this setup I cannot make the EGT see 1000deg
