What is life and does it really matter?

Steve Park???

I want one!!!

Parted with my 340 Duster years ago and have been searching for a project vehicle in reasonable trim- that thing is dying for a 340- are there crate 340's???? Looks like a neat car- smog legislation made them swap 318s for the 340s but the car is still fun I bet

The first car I ever bought was a 74 dart sport, with 3 on the floor.

It had a 318 that needed you fill the oil regularly and check the gas occaisionally... Someone had run it in west texas sans air filter. Well, the housing was there, just nothing inside it... Until I bought it.

The car was fun, and would go like stink, even though it was apparently a stock 318 2 barrell. It had a 120 mph speedometer and would bury it in short order. It drove horribly until I swapped wheels... taking off the deep reverse dish chromes and putting plain old wheels back on, and then it drove quite nice.

Had a buddy with a big engine GTO and auto... and with the exception of the off the line performance, he could not outrun my dart. I had speed, he had power :)

The car made cool noises for a kid's car... had dual exhausts with no crossover and little burned out glasspacks in the back. It would set up a cackle you could hear a LONG ways.

I agree with the 440 idea, nothing beats a big block, but a 360 would work too since you can get crate late model 360's that can be fuel injected... . looks really good, like someone took good care of it. How much did you give for it ?

kerryp

Just get yourself a 318, put in a repro grind 340 cam, 4 barrel AFB, a pair of good 360 or 340 heads, 9. 5 pistons, small, long-tube headers, and a properly curved distributor... . Once the carb is tuned, it'll get decent fuel economy and still be a hoot to drive. After all, what good is fun to drive, if you detest filling it up every 150 miles?

Great Pictures

Your car reminded me of some great pictures I found @ E-Town's website :)

the car was $1000, I know for fact it had more than that put in to it in the weeks before the motor was killed, a $500 mandrel bent 2. 5" exhaust system, new alternator, waterpump, battery, distributor, wires, cap, rotor etc.

We'll see how she goes!

nice car

You either struck out on your own or live with the most understanding parents! My dad would have never let me have 4 cars in the driveway! Good luck with the new car.
