This is typical of what goes on at work. I put up my colors to be a little different and look what happens. Anybody else get into this kind of stuff at work?
Not where I work. The mechanics there know a good thing and drive Cummins. The office people drive Fords. I did have a guy at a campground explain to me that Ford owns Cummins you know. I responded by saying "if Ford owned Cummins they would not have a Navistar in their products". He then told me how noisy my Cummins is. The response " it's still chewing on those Fords and Chevy's it ate coming up those mountains". He still persisted on Ford and explained how the v10 he has starts up the hills and drops out of overdrive and just sails up the mountain and this is running solo. The response " huh, thats odd, my cummins never drops out of overdrive it just keeps pulling". He finally gave up and walked away shaking his head. I couldn't leave it alone and mentioned to him that 20mpg isn't bad for a 6700lb. truck also.
Don't have that problem here, all our company trucks are Dodges with Cummins in them and everyone that has a truck for a personal vehicle also has a Dodge CTD. It's real noisy when we pull onto a job site in the morning
My boss (and owner of company) had three CTD's before buying a 00 psd after his 98. 5 got sugar in the tank. :{ After that he had to do a political move and get a Duramax, but has resounded to himself that he will have another CTD within the next year. The psd wasn't too bad, but the Duramax is just a slug.
He'll also find just about any excuse to drive mine when I am home from school working for him. Oo.
I sell these trucks every day,,,,,,,,,,,,, the ford store is across the street and the chevy store is across tracks,,,,,,,, people walk right across the street... ... ... . look at the odometer on my 94 12v rollback with 480,000 miles and ask where to sign,,,,,,,,
I used to get into brand wars with one of my guys, but I managed to convert him. He now drives an 03 slt 3500 dually quad cab. Nice move from a 2001 f-350 xlt lariat crew cab dually.
I talked two die hard Ford diesel owners (pre powerstroke) & one Chevy (6. 5) guy in to CTDs. Problem is they nowl have nicer trucks than I do . ! DC should give me a big discount on a 2004 non egr CTD .
Stupid question: What is a rollback? (Hopefully it's not the feeling you get when you jump out of the truck on the ramp to trim the outboard up :-laf not that I ever did that)
Only until the truth set in. One of my co-workers traded his F-250 for a Tundra. Toyota quality he says can't be beat. With just over 70k on the clock, it just beat him out of over $600 for a right side exhaust manifold that cracked. After the love affair wore off, it's light and tinny feeling and tiny inside for a $31,000+ truck. It sucks gas like a 3/4ton truck but doesn't do the job of a full size 1/2 ton. He's ready for another F-250 but trade in value on the Tundra is less than he owes. Live and learn.
Other co-worker was a die-hard Ford fan. His F-350 diesel was in his wallet for 240,000 troublesome miles. Over $700 for a water pump was the final straw when I showed him mine with it's two bolts to remove and replace it. He drove the HO Cummins but decided on the HEMI since he only tows a small boat and the HEMI hauls azz empty.
My fourth trouble free Dodge sits with high regards where I work. We use them for work so it doesnt' really sit.
Working at the Ford Ky Truck plant and having one of the few Cummins Rams and picking on power strokes has got me a lot of rave reviews but I still drive it and love it. It took a few smoke burst for the non believer's but life is good. Tim
that if you own a non-Ford product, you have to park in a different parking location? I heard that once and wasn't sure if it wasn't an urban legend.....
The Ford dealership up here in Anchorage gives better parking spots to employees with Fords... just to and my . 02, my boss is on his 3rd CTD ('99 3500 5sp 4x4) and I am a fresh Ford convert (bought my '00 2500 last October and never looked back).
