I do indeed plan to do some of the things listed, especially after 100K. It is funny, I am pretty proficient on other boards and considered to be a source for good info for Jeep-related info, atleast I hope others think so. But, now I have a whole new learning curve going on and fee like such a noobie. I guess I should just drive it for a while and see what I want to do to her.

I have searched a lot and think it would be neat to have a real basic FAQ on upgrades. Stuff like:

-Why a BHAF? Does the stock one not flow enough? Is there a generally accepted good one that fits w/o modifications? Does it filter as well as the stock one?

-Why remove the muffler? Does it really improve anything? Does it make the noise unbearable? Can this damage the engine?

You know, stuff like that. All tech sites should have stuff like that to send the noobies to to help the learning curve and should have to be read before someone can post for the first time.

Oh great---more hours upon hours of reading!!!;)

They are great links. Please disregard the previous statements of needed FAQs. :D

Hey tomorrows the day isn't it! We won't plan on hearing from you until... late tomorrow, or maybe Thursday some time ;)

The air filter and exhaust mods depend on the horse power level you'r looking to achieve.

The BHAF flows more air to help keep EGTs cool and help burn the extra fuel from injectors and box's. At stock levels I don't think it's necessary.

I straight piped my truck about six months after I bought it. This too will help keep EGTS down. Again, it's probably not necessary at stock levels, but it also lets the turbo spool up just a little faster. I also like the sound, and I don't think it's that much louder then stock, at least from inside :D

Happy 2002 owner

I bought my 2002 <see Sig. > brand new, depreciation and all. I got just what I wanted and am thrilled about it every day! Sure I've made a few "improvements" but I've got leg up on my truck wish list. Now if I can make the time to install the RV 275 injectors and the Jacobs exhaust brake, I'll be sittin' all pretty again - for a while.

I used to tow a 5000# travel trailer with my 5. 2 Grand Cherokee, that was a constant effort. So I scaled down to a 3000# TT, still an effort. Pulling that with the Ram is no sweat. We just traded up to a 9000# 5th wheel. You know what, pulling that with the Ram is no sweat either! I gotta work on those towing MPGs though. But on my normal commute, I get 19. 5 mpg!

I love my truck and I'm sure you will love yours too.

Regards,

Neil

Robin, what do you Jeep guys think about Landcruisers? Is it like a Dodge/Ford thing? I had a Jeep once, compared to the Landcruiser FZJ80 the Jeep was not in the same class. But I guess there are more mod's available for the Jeeps when you off road them. Mine is just a Mall cruiser but it is built so well it might last forever. :D

Here she is!!! Almost brings a tear to my eye.

EDIT:Oh forget it. Uploading to this site limits the size too much. Let me figure out my Comcast webpage and post there and link. Sorry.

I tossed the muffler and silencer ring for the sound reason only. If there are gains in any performance, then that's a freebie. I just received my 5" exhaust today from UPS. I don't think I'm pushing 550+ hp, so I really don't need it, but it's gonna look in sound darn good (IMHO, of course).
