Should I change the oil or just the filter.

Well, with all of you posting injector issues, I got jealous and decided to join the club.

In all seriousness, I started feeling a slight miss every once in a while. Then a few weeks ago it looked like my oil level started to rise just slightly. Now I get this when I start it.

It's a little frustrating with 80,500 miles on the clock on a bone stock truck, especially with additional fuel filtration in place for years.

Anyway, I'll be pulling them for testing tomorrow. Nothing better than another project to keep me busy.

Before you go to the work of pulling them and testing that might not catch the problem, do an injector cleaning.

Cerb beat me to it. At least fill up the FF canister with SeaFoam, run it for a couple of minutes and then let it sit overnight.
Very unlikely your injectors are worn after 80K, esp. since you have better filtration.

I had run SeaFoam through it earlier in the week and it didn't seem to help. I just went a bought another bottle and will do it again now. Crossing fingers that it will help. But, I'm not that lucky.

The cleaner that Mopar uses on the fuel system cleaning TSB is CRC Diesel Fuel Therapy. Get a quart, dump it in, go for a ride to mix it up. The technicians use the scan tool to do fuel pressure overide as it isn't as hard on the engine as pulling the FCA. Do the overide three times for 30 seconds, then drive it as hard as you can.

Well guess I am doing fairly well with the stock injectors at 227K. Have had the FASS system on mine for about 140K of those when the origional lift pump went out. It goes straight to the CP3. I had a TST on it, but was giving me indications of bad injectors, based on the codes coming up. I have since removed it, runs better now and no hiccups and just relying on my Smarty. Everyone I talk to about the injectors say leave them alone until such time I start having issues.

Also I cut the filters apart at every change just to see whats in them and its amzing what the air/water separater collects.

I had good results with the Seafoam treatment recommended - filled up fuel filter housing - ran for 3 minutes, then let sit for 2 days. Noticed no slight miss, and the throttle response is crisper. I will do this at every fuel filter change [ usually I do at 12,500] I run diesel from only truck stops, or the private fleet fueling service that is available, or my farm tank that is treated with Power Service white bottle.

83,500 on the odo and runs excellent.

I have stopped buying fuel at the truck stops if at all possible. I did notice this past August on my way to S.D. that it seemed that when I stopped I was able to get #2 diesel. In my area they use BIO. After talking with a couple fuel truck drivers that deliver fuel, they told me where they don't drop BIO. Maybe thats what has helped my injectors, along with the Stanedyne at each fill up. With the way I check/change the filters hopefully I can go a little longer without issues.

Well, the good and the bad.

2 rounds of SeaFoam didn't make much of a difference on their own. Following sag2's suggestion of the CRC and TSB procedure did seem to smooth it out some. It's still smoking white at startup, but not anywhere near as bad. But, the slight miss is still there at times. I'm going to continue to drive it a few more days and see what happens.

So you just drain out some diesel from the filter and fill it back up with Seafoam and run it for a few? then let sit? sounds easy
Mine ran like crap the other day whe I started it and the check engine orange icon came on. It pull codes p2509 and p1755. The battery was low, so I charged them, cleared the codes and no more icon. After 5 years almost to the day on batteries, and I am driving it a lot less.....I put new batteries in today!!
Guess I'll try the seafom deal since I have a can here.
