I DODGEd a BIG bullet!!! w/pics

#@$%! The left front of my '06 3500 went flat in the driveway.

No big deal. Throw some air at it and see what happens.

Couple of days later, its flat again.

OK, take the truck to BIG O or Les Schwab to fix the flat. Well, what with fuel and food costs going through the roof I thought I'd just throw the spare at it and take it when I could.

Well, I jacked it up and took the offending tire off and found that the wheel was CRACKED!!!#@$%!

Figured that a few years ago, when we towed the 5'er with that truck and I got a flat tire on that wheel. The tire guy said it had a . 0010 taco in it, it cracked there.

At the time, not to worry, right?

This wheel had gone from CA to IN (Lana pulling the boat) back to NV from IN, pulling the boat.

Plus many time over 100MPH (just for fun, ya know :;).

Looking for 4 3500 take-offs if available.

I'll load pics of the dead wheel later.

I know it is a different truck, but I have had 2 of the factory Aluminum rims crack in a very similar fashion on my truck over the years.

The rims were never hit into the curb, they just broke on the bead just behind a wheel weight.

This one blew a few years ago when pulling our 5'er near Shasta on I-5. Luckily the lower shock mount hit the ground before the wheel dug in.

I'm trashing the other ones once I get some steel wheels, maybe take-offs if available.

Should be worth some big bucks at the recycler. :D

what wheels are those? I thought we were talking about factory alloys... I wouldn't ever run anything that looked like that on one of my trucks, but it might save someone some hassle if they're considering buying the same brand

Not factory. These are EAGLE alloys. That particular wheel went flat while towing our 12K 5'er. The tire that blew separated internally.

However it was bent slightly, within tolerances.

Yes, I am looking for steel replacements.
