ford and chevy both kick dodges butt in truck sales, the CUMMINS is the only thing dodge has going for it ...



a mercedes diesel won't help dodge ...



i've owned three ('91 -'01 -'03) CUMMINS trucks



but i would become a king ranch ford man in a heartbeat for my next purchase if the retards who brought us:



the GET RAG transmission (i had 3 by 275k), or the pusher/lift pump mounted on the motor ('01),or the 48re while chevy and ford both have 5 speed autos, or the new "lightweight aluminum" 6 speed





tell me that i have to have a mb diesel to drive a dodge

Brand loyalty etc aside, think about cost. MB does not make anything cheap. Their diesel options in cars are some of the most expensive. A MB powered Dodge is probably going to be more expensive than a Cummins powered Dodge.



BTW - MB failed it's certification tests for the 07 diesel exhaust standards on cars. So did VW.

We have several trucks in our company with Mercedes engines in them.

Like the guy that posted in the beginning said, we have a sterling dump truck with a 450 hp mb engine.

Empty, the truck can lay rubber and cars never seem to bother to pass it.

Loaded, it does pretty good at get up and go too.

I find the Mercedes diesel to be not as good as the cat and Cummins trucks that we also have in our fleet.

We have a medium duty sterling with the 6.7 litre engine.

They seem to suffer serious mechanical failures internally as we have 3 of them.

2 are in the scrap pile.

We’ve had great luck with Cummins and Cat engines.
