Ford news. Dodge not playing fair

5300/6600 watt $1600 couldn't figure out the brand of the engine and wasn't going to take it apart to find out (hard cover), i can't remember the numbers and other crap on the cover but i think the brand may of been WEN which i saw on all of the generators scattered about the store, at a glance it didn't look too bad

If you are going to use it for camping, diesel may be too loud. I just ordered a Cummins Onan Homesite 6500 Portable Generator, 55KW, from Costco.com for $679. 99 with a wheel kit. The highest decibel level is 79. With the wheel kit off, it will fit in the back of the truck behind the 5er hitch just under the rail.

The one from "Sportsman Guide" is only 70 decibals, so it is quieter than your gasser. Diesels have changed. They are no longer the rattly, smokey, gutless wonders they used to be. My 1999 Kubota mower is WAY quieter than ANY gasser I have ever used or heard. Our air cooled diesel powered air compressors are no louder than our one gas powered one at work (have 3 diesel, one gas) The air cooled diesel generators I have heard are generally quieter than the gas versions. Only downside is they rattle (vibrate) more at idle... Not an issue for a generator, which almost never runs at idle.

Go diesel. You will NOT be disappointed!

That's good to know.

Did you order from Sportsmansguide?

If so let me know how it turns out. I may order one.

Be sure to check all bolts and hoses for tightness.

I have already bought 3 from SPG . A, 2 K , a 3. 5 k and a 6. 5 K for the volunteer fire dept. I sent the 3. 5 k back .

I try to keep 2 5 K's on hand and will sell one during hurricane season for what I paid for it .
