Maybe a little bit of water. You been ferrying any wetbacks arcoss the Rio Grande Chris?

Water in oil will start out as milky streaks then progress to a crème color.

Water also shows as whitish gunk on plugs and caps.

Hey Bill, Didn't ya know I am what's known as a coyote, that is, when I am not working for the city!!:p hehehe, is the best thing to drain all this fluid, and get some new stuff?? If so, is Amsoil worth using, or should I stick with the Stealer's MOPAR brand???

I took both PTO covers off mine yesterday and sprayed what I could with brake cleaner. Then I put it all back together. Refilled with Royal Purple, Max Gear 75W-90 and down the road I go

Getting those PTO covers off was a real PIA but I had to have access so I could sweep the bottom of the transmission with a magnet and get all the broken snap ring pieces out.

You might also consider changing the transmission lube at shorter intervals for a while to try and get all that stuff out of there. I'm planning on changing at 10,000 miles about 3 times. Just to make sure things get cleaned up real good in there. Might be overkill, but that's my plan.

I use Amsoil and that would be my recommendation. If you don't want to run the risk of warranty issues use the OEM lube. It's decent lube, just way overpriced.

Something else to consider: Add one or a pair of Fast Cooler covers. One cooler adds a quart of lube capacity to the transmission.

Sometimes it takes several changes to remove all the water. Wonder if there is some cheaper alternative for Chris besides dumping a few loads of Castrol or Amsoil?

Next time use a boat Chris

The "gold" part of the color has me concerned. Sounds like synchro wear.

I'd put some cheap lube in there & run it just long enough to get the transmission up to operating temperture, then drain it. I think the "gold" color he's talking about is just the "latte" that gear lube & water makes.

Gitch- what was the problem with the PTO covers?
