I don't tow anything other than a boat and jet skis...(tire ?)

I'm fixing to replace my factory tires (Michelin A/S blackwall). Local tire dealer said since I don't tow anything over 9k# (and thats rare), I didn't necessarily need the E load Michelins. I'm going with the M/S, in a C rating. Will this be ok? Tried search, didn't find a whole lot. Thanks a bunch fellas!

I believe I would get at least load range D. The BFG AT might be worth looking into. I think it is load range D. Personally I would rather have a little too much tire than not enough.

When I bought my truck (used), the dealer ahd installed 225-75-16 range C tires. The fronts were overloaded empty! They lasted 60,000 miles. I never go offroad though, my truck is set up to tow.

A friend of mine did the same thing an regreats it to the tune of about 600 bucks thrown away. John thought( was told by some tire sales Guy) the C rated tires would soften the 4x4 long box ride on his 2500 Cummins 6 speed. He also never tows any thing. Well they did that all right his tires are wearing fast an his truck is all over the road, the Cummins has the fronts over loaded just sitting in the drive. I have E rated Michlins and they preform excellent w/ 75,000 miles on then and due to change in 5,000 miles with the same tire. John will be replacing his at the same time at 38,000 or there about back to E rated tires.

Load range C will carry the weight allright but you would have too much side wall flex causing big problems.

My dad somehow got load C tires on his truck, and the didn't last at all. His is a 3500 4X4 QC. Unless you run them at Max PSI they will not do the job at all. Then thee goes your ride... .

I just went from stock Michelin A/S tires to BFG KOs. While I like my D-range 265/75 BFGs, they have a lot more sidewall flex and are very soft in corners compared to the stockers. They don't hold the road nearly as well which is not good for me since I like to take corners fast. If I didn't want better traction for my 2wd I would definitely go back to the stock Michelin A/S tires. They are a quality tire IMO.

If you buy E range tires, you don't need to run them at 80 PSI. Feel free to buy a D or E load range and run a little less air. Unloaded 40-45 psi in the rear. Have your front axle weighed and adjust your front pressure accordingly. That engine is heavy and a C tire at max pressure (50 psi) may not be able to carry the weight of your front axle safely. Just my $. 02

I run my BFG AT's at 55psi in the front and 45psi in the rear. Night and day difference in ride between the BFG's and my stock E rated Michelins. The tires are wearing very well too.

I'm loving the Dunlop Radial Rover A/T that I put on mine. They're D rated 255/85s. Got about 7k on them so far. I'll put another 1200 miles on them this weekend, all towing.
