just a thought, but my first guess is no. you won't be putting 500 HP to the ground for an amount of time that would suggest temperature being a problem. Thing is, the more you deviate from stock, the more responsibility you take for monitoring all the parameters that may be affected.

For towing - yes. Sometimes I think ignorance is bliss in this regard, though. Towing up some mountains without being able to get the TC locked up has shown me some pretty high temps at times. It's nice to know when to back off and let it cool down, though.

Well that answers it for me. . I'll get the pyro, boost, and trans temp gauges. I would like to have the fuel pressure gauge too.

Fireman Dave: where did you put all of your gauges?

The pyro, boost, and trans temp gauges are on the A-pillar. The fuel pressure gauge (mechanical) is under the dash in front of the transfer case shifter. I mounted it to the side of the little plastic cover on top of the trans tunnel. Also, my trans temp sender is in the port on the the side of the cooler line (the line is for a '97 truck - there's no port in a 2001 line).

Nick, if you plan on having any "fun" with all that horsepower you want, go ahead and put a transmission temp gauge in. It's cheap insurance so you don't overheat that auto. IMO the auto's should come with a temp gauge.

I agree with this too. Drag racing on a hot day will build some heat in the staging lanes. :D (even with stock power)

Need a line for a '95, not '97. '97s don't have the port in the line either.

The DC p/n for the cooler line is 5011244AA.

alright thanks guys. Is there a 4 mount pillar for where my grab handle is now in my truck. I was going to do with the digital box that has pyro. /boost / and (whatever). But i really want all 4 in one area i dont want them spread out. I am a neat freak. :)

Oops - thanks for the correction, B. The ole steel trap has some rust - it's been a little while since I bought the line.

Nick, I'm pretty sure no one makes a 4 gauge pillar. I have the three gauge pillar and can't for the life of me see how 4 could occupy that space. The three are a VERY tight fit. I'll have pics in my readers rigs of mine soon, so you can go see what I'm talking about. I have the Pyro, Boost, and Fuel Pressure gauges. I'd like to have the transmission, but don't know where to put it. Don't want it on the steering collumn.

Andy

would it work if i did 2 x 2 on the a=pillar? there is a pic of a ford van on one of the site that sells gauges with that set-up. .

Are you aware that there are dual function gauges? Like Westach and SPA Technique. Or maybe that's what you mean by 2 x 2.

Oh, and you're nuts if you have an automatic and don't have a temperature gauge. Especially at 500rwhp. Not spending $100 on a gauge that can save your $4000 transmission is nuts.

In my humble opinion, of course. :)
