Buying the **** people are saying about diesel prices?

Please help me understand this... ... ... .....

The Ford truck is tough. I like 'em. Always have. Always have had one. Still do!

However, what I don't get is how the Die-hard Ford guys put down the Cummins engine. Do they not know that Ford installs the 5. 9 Cummins in their heavier duty trucks, ie the F650/F750 I believe it is.

So if Ford uses the SAME engine in a heavier truck and Dodge uses the SAME engine in a lighter duty truck doesn't that make the Ford guys argument seem... ... ... ... (you fill in the blank)

Must simply be jealousy.

Beside the fact the 5. 9 was and still is an industrial engine long prior to the 7. 3/6. 0 powerjokes.

most of the big ford guys i know and hear from do not put down the cummins at all ,

they always say that if cummins was in a 3/4 or 1 ton Ford it would be the highest selling Pick Up ever.

they say its a great motor with a POS dodge wraped around it often.

Most Ford owners are to smart to knock on the CTD ,,,but theres always the stragglers who will be schooled by a CTD in due time.

I think for people who are used to gassers, cubic inches is everything. Albeit, the 6. 0L is a toss up that way.

Ya know, "a puny 5. 9L compared to my 7. 3L... ... ... ... ... ... ". The 7. 3 will kick your butt, thing.

Same reason those who worship the small block Chevy hate the small block Ford, etc etc etc. Brand loyalty, ignorance about the subject, or just an honest lack of knowledge about engines... ... Gonna go on forever.

Most people beleive what they want to, to justify what they drive.

Ford , never owned one, no reason to change.

I have owned/driven Chevys for years. Then by chance bought a Dodge. Many times people who know me and my brothers , said "DODGE???" What is wrong with you?

I explain it this way.

I use to have to change water pumps, starters, alternators, timing chain, motor mounts, door hinges too, with the bow tie vehicles.

I bought my first Dodge in 78. I have changed two starters, no alternators, no water pumps, no motor mounts since. What is it they don't understand?

To end this, my dodges are not perfect but they are much more dependable.

I have a 92 Dakota with 295,000 miles, it has its second trans, original water pump, alternator, second starter, and original door hinges!!!! Motor has never had a wrench to it. ( it does need a timing chain ).

My Brother shares the same view point. He believes that power comes from BIG C. I. D. and a "V" arrangement. I tried to point out that OTR trucks and farm tractors use I6 engines. Still cannot get through to him.

I had an F250 Ford, 390 c. i. . 4 speed. I though it was normal to always be replacing parts or working on it. At 104K miles I had the engine rebuilt. At 121K miles I has the engine replaced. In 1993 I was going to buy a new F250 Ford when a friend of mine convinced me to go for the powertrain, a Dodge with a Cummins. I waited for the 2nd generation with a Club Cab, a 95. That turned out to be the best vehicle I have ever had. It was never in the shop and I never replaced anything. So far the 05 is as good, maybe even better in some ways. Only time will tell. I read here on TDR that half of the Dodge/Cummins owners are former Ford/ Powerjoke owners.

A good friend of mine told me last week that a good friend of his, who is a diesel mechanic at a Ford dealer said that when he was in school a week ago for the Power Stroke, that the instructor said in 2007 they are going Cummins. I to think that the best truck made would be a Ford with a Cummins and that is what my friend is waiting for. I bought the Cummins, the Dodge came with it.

sounds like this came down the grape vine i would like to see a truck like that w/ the nv5600 6spd and an allision 6spd auto but a freind of a freind is a little far off to be truely reliable not saying he's wrong just saying it could be misheard or something tho i have heard it too but i think that ford would get cat another good engine i think that cause they are already w/ cat for the bigger trucks but thats just my gut
