Competition Get well Greg !!!

Drag race: Quaker City all Diesel day.

I suck.

15:33 to 18:00, reaction times of . 833 to well over one, I need some practice.

Last run, my foot slipped off the brake, on the next to last yellow, very ugly run.

I went down to the pits, loaded my weights and traction bars back into the truck, watched the first run of the race, which Eric McBride later won, and headed one hour north to a pull.

Put all the pull stuff on, went 307 feet, won, took all the pull stuff off, and drove it home.

Thats back to back Quaker wins for Mcbride, in totally different trucks, he is a good race driver.

KTA was the show, though, awesome first gen! :--)

WOW!!

So now Gene is cross training for two sports? It kinda brings Bo Jackson to mind... ..... lol

Should we expect to see Drag Racer.com on the side of your truck soon?

His brandy-new '03, auto, crew-cab, SRW 3500 that weighs 8000#.

And, if any of you have questions about how bracket racing works, Eric broke out (E/T was faster than his dial-in time) on all but one round.

And IIRC, in the next-to-last round, Eric's slow-arsed, 15. 7 sec. '03 put Buddha's 12. 5 sec. modified diesel on the trailer.

All you racers who cancelled due to the iffy weather should've gone. It was mostly clear all afternoon: sunny, warm and humid. But it started drying out and cooling off a bit late in the afternoon, which might explain many of the breakouts, not only inthe DHRA race, but in the big-rig and other races as well.

And Gene, you just need more practice. Considering your 15-18 second runs, IIRC, at least 5 of those seconds was launching; I'm certain I was waiting that long for you to appear past the grandstands. Once you got it in gear and the turbo spooled, you were down the track PDQ. Next time, try a 4x4 launch in 3rd, and ride the clutch 60 feet. With the torque you have, you should only need 3rd and 5th anyway. :)

Bob.

Eric has all the results. When he gets them to me, I'll post them on the DHRA web site. I'm working on creating that portion of the site.

Gene, you could have broke at the drags. My clutch felt funny durring practice and my 1 round. On the drive home after a ^%$#^%#&%$# schnider semi ran me off into a plastic barrel   , I think the throwout bearing went out. Then after 2 hours of listening to it whine, it got alot louder. it made a loud bang, shook the truck and made lots of bad noises the last 10 miles to get home. The clutch dont work now, but who needs it, right? transmission should be out in about a 6 pack from now.

Hmm, is it bad when you twist the clutch fork?? Or have lots of little pieces of the throw out bearing fall out when you pull the transmission from the block? Apparently the throw out went out and then it welded it self back together when i was almost home. A welded throwout bearing doesnt work very well and the pressure plate twisted it apart and twisted the fork. It appears that those were the only parts damaged. i think I can make it to the dealership before they close to get the parts. It might be running by midnight. It didnt even hurt the pressure plate.

Broke out? HUH? I only broke out in the finals, and that was to stay ahead of Mike. We both broke out, his was just more than mine!

Oh yea, I did keep my foot in it for the bye run, had to see if I needed to change my dial!

It's the tree that wins the bracket racing for me. My R/T's were:

. 510

. 504

. 504

. 557

and a lousy . 619 against Chris.

KTA set a new personal record of 15. 3, great job Brian!

Jeff, jeff, jeff.

Chris, for your viweing pleasure. .

First run 2x4 only used 3rd and 4th. 16. 9@93. 36

The rest I kept the rpm down and used 5th gear. These were on 285 tires with 3:54 ratio.

4x4-15. 33 @95. 34

4x4 15. 46 @92. 40

Lat one was18. 59@76. 53, lol:rolleyes:

One more thing. I was totally nervous about breaking parts, but at the pull, total calm. I just can't bring myself to drive that thing hard on pavement.
