Looks like a cam is gonna be creaping up on me soon too... :D

So same question, what kind of repair/upgrade work can I do while the front of the engine is off?

The radiator and intercooler will be out... what about flushing them? Can an intercooler be flushed by a radiator shop? What if I find small (or any, for that matter) holes in my intercooler?

Re-installing the kdp, tightening bolts, and checking for KDP damage is already on my list.

So any upgrades or repairs that should be done while that's all apart?

I just don't want to take this thing apart over and over again... that's when things break! :(

"I feel a cam coming on"

I suggest you take 1 tablespoon of B100 and lie down . A nap usually makes it go away.

Most of the time they call it rodding out the core

They unsolder the tanks and roto router the tubes.

I like the idea of a chill pill for you better:D

Peace!

I second the what for. Just get stiffer springs or have them shimmed up.

Ok, yeah... my spelling was way off...

Sorry, I forgot to read over my post before I posted it... I ussualy do but I was in a hurry...

So no HELPFULL info??? :D :-laf

Chill pill? Actually I'm on pills that do the reverse effect... :( long story...

Aluminum rods? Not a clue... might wanna call Piers on that one!

So THAT's why he gets so excited and antsy when something makes a new noise on his 12 yr-old/ 210K pickup? :-laf :-laf

Um... ... . Front main seal comes to mind, along with some JB Weld on your cracked case. :-laf

Reset your timing pin to be dead on if it aint already, but that is better done with the PUMP off, which I hear is in your near future as well. ;)

*I* know his reason for wanting a different cam- more/ improved airflow for more power.

I was just asking because people seem to have a misconception of what a different cam will do in a Cummins.

It will run cooler but no HP gain.

I guess it does amount to the same thing considering it will give you more useable power.

Uh. . If that crack is very bad you aren't far from being able to get the case off too. Might be worth pricing out.

Actually, it appears that my KDP dropped WITHOUT cracking the case...

Remember that it popped out while the truck was pointed down-hill doing about 650rpm... (being pulled out of a bad spot by a wrecker... idling in reverse to help the winch  ).

Cam? Yes, I want it for improved airflow. Believe it or not, I do know what I'm talking about sometimes!

I may be a little lacking on the repair aspect of things, but that comes with time and experience... I know more about BOMBing these trucks than most people... because I do more BOMBing than repair work. :D

Chris.

The cam is a nice mod. When I put this new motor in my power just off idle was lousy compared to my 92 motor. With the new cam it pulls off idle much better. At 1000 rpm it is already starting to pull by 1300 the boost starts moving up very fast.

I think you should give up and split your performance parts between me and bgilbert. You see, the Cummins is like a wolf. I don't have time to explain right now, but just ship those parts and I guarantee it will make sense ;)

LOL wolf??? I'll take a moment to think about that one. Times up NAH nice try I gatta give you props for trying though:D :D :D

Stomp.

I read the last post several times and I don't understand the wolf part. A DIRT BIKE! For my birthday my wife bought me one of those little stick on clocks so I know what time it is when I'm driving, but it was one of the good $2. 49 ones not the cheap $1. 79 ones. Only the best for my truck. By the way, my truck is now a twin cam 24 valve. One cam in the motor and one cam on the passenger side of the front seat ready to ups back to pdr.

LOL, yeah a wolf ;) You see, what do you get when you got a domesticated wolf? Man's best friend. Now, you can also take a "domesticated" wolf; in man's best friend mode, instill an aggressive offensive mindset into the poor thing and you got an animal that will frighten your family, or heaven forbid your buddies happen to be wandering around your yard during of after drinking beers. These animals know when your intoxicated and they will pounce! The results can be devastating if you're not aware of the dangers involved.

P. S. I'll pay for the shipping :D

LOL,

Carl G

P. S. Sorry about the thread HiJack Chris, I'll behave now.
