Oh, ya. Don't forget about "PRE-SALTING". I just love those DPW supervisors with their "meteorology degrees" who insist on putting rock salt down on dry pavement BEFORE it starts to snow (or whatever else is forecasted).

It drives me crazy. All this stuff does is bounce off the highway or get thrown up into the wheel wells of vehicles by tires.

Last night it is pouring rain. Water is rapidly flowing off the well crowned roads (as it is suppose to). And the trucks are laying down salt!!!! What do they think that salt is doing???

Our TAX dollars in action. I mean salt is relatively cheap. Think of the all the fuel they are wasting.

There is a reason that plows run around with the plow up. Could be either a state, county, or city truck on a road that is not either state, county or city. And the drivers also have a route they have to plow.

I've tried to give the drivers the benefit of the doubt, but their behavior is still wacky. I mean, a "City of Centerville" municipal truck moving through heavily snow-covered "City of Centerville" streets with the plow UP during a snowstorm just doesn't make any sense.

When I lived in Syracuse the plow trucks drove around with the plow down in 80° weather in the middle of July. [Well, not really, but you get the point].

Someone needs to tell these guys - "hey, when you're on your way to your route, it's okay to leave the plow DOWN!"

No wonder 1" of snow here cripples the entire area.
