Last week I ran a thread about the H/O engines. I decided I could live with my old 12 Valve with Auto. Gunny S came by and let me drive his with the 6 spd. I knew I was in trouble as I just plain prefer a manual trans. Was trying to come up with a workable PacBrake for the auto and just happened to drive by the friendly Dodge Dealer and there it was. Silver 2500 L/B 4x4 with the H/O engine and 6 spd. Slobbered a little, test drove it and went home to kiss up to Mama. Brought it home today and I am all smiles. The new PacBrake has been ordered. LIFE IS GOOD !!!:D :D :D

Congrats on the new rig! I just brought mine home Thursday. I've owned a '95 auto/3. 54, a '98 12v 5spd/4. 10 and now a 2001 auto/3. 55. I liked the '95 but with only 160hp/400lb/ft of torque and the way the transmission liked to go into O/D and lockup at 42mph load or not, it was a real slug but once up to speed, it lumbered along at 65mph turning only 1750rpms with ample power to tow our 4,400lb TT. And it was quiet. The '98 which I bought for the club cab part was a real performer. But it was noisey at 2500rpm all day long. I went to buy the Mrs a Durango last week and saw a pure white long bed quad cab 2500 loaded and Cummins powered. I remembered the performance of my last auto/3. 54 but decided to give it a chance. Man... this thing flies. 235hp and 460lb/ft of torque and a transmission programmed to stay in "tow mode". It keeps the rpm and boost up until you let the loud peddle up to cruise. Then it settles down to 1750rpm and 62dba in the cab. I know it's nothing like the HO but compared to the previous 12v autos, it's like night and day. I can't wait to load up the 5th wheel and take a cruise with it. Just my ever so humble 12v and now 24v owning opinion! BTW I bought the MRS her Durango too. Patriot Blue with Pewter accents and all the options. NICE!

Nope, I'm not rich at all. Just a mechanic with good credit. 1. 9%apr for the Durango and 6. 75% on the truck.

I also had a '95 3. 54, 5-sp. Slightly bombed with TST parts. That was the longest vehicle I ever had 6+ years. Now its a whole new world with this '01. 5 see sig and NO divorce court yet. She keeps asking whats next  :D . I know you will have a good time. Sam

Oh Yah, if you have not had the one of the earlier second generation Rams you would not notice all the little improvements.

Don, See Man I told you kissen up to mama would be a good deal. Congratulations man I'm happy for you. Now maybe you will be able to keep up on the way to Raton next month. Gunny

Good for you, Don, enjoy it, I sure love mine :D .

Gunny, that is a screen name that screams out SEMPER FI !!!!, probably one of the most respect grades in the Corps, IMHO. Glad to see another Devildog on the site ;) .

Congrats Don!

I took the plunge as well on Saturday. One dealer

had a bunch of ETH/DEEs on the lot but they were

not loaded with options. Most of their sales were

to local ranchers and farmers.

I had my eye on a particular white 2500 5 speed,

which is the same combo (ETC/5spd) as the 3500 I

traded (for a Suburban) a few weeks ago. To me

the 5 speed is a lot nicer shifting box. Don't get

me wrong, the HO and 6 speed is nice and I did

notice the power, but from the posts on this site

regarding Bombing, the ETC responds better to the

addition of a fueling box (which I still have from

my previos truck).

Now is definitely the time for great deals on new

2001. 5's! I bought mine for $2000 below dealer

invoice! :D
