who has the highest post per day average?

On the whole

It is a 1959 B61 Mack tractor, with a Thermodyne diesel. :) Now I got to get it home. Anyone have a starter for a Mack 673??

Sorry about the double post, it took alittle to get the photo posting down.

hehe, I know of an almost exact scene being played out down here in chester county, I know of a b60 straight truck sitting right next to a b61 diesel tractor... hmmm

-Will :D

Paul,

Have you tried to have the starter rebuilt?

I have a friend that sold a B61 last year I'll ask him if he has any good parts in the shop.

Thanks alot! The starter is missing from the truck:confused:

I can get a remaned from Napa, but it ain't cheap!

We are going to push it onto an equipment trailer with a backhoe to get it home for now.

Paul, what for transmission is in that, a 5x2 or 3 twin stick? Those Mack's with the stone crusher transmission's will teach you to double clutch. Mack made a lot those B model's. There has to be a mess of them around scrap and back yards if you look. I have a source I can check on if you need.

About 10 years back, a buddy of mine that does exporting told me they were buying all of them up and shipping them to Saudi.

My Dad had a B-61 with the duplex trans and the 711 engine.

This was about 30 years ago.

Let me know if you see anything.

Its got a duplex, [5x2]. Also has a wet line.

I also looked at one that was a Unishift 10 speed but could not get an answer if it was for sale.

Paul, I will ask around and call up one place that may have something. I have no knowledge of what crosses over on an old B model. Being close to the source though, there may be some active Mack people around. Too bad the Macungie truck show is over or did you make it?

Wet line? Hey, Todd T has a post in about dump work. He might be interested:rolleyes:

If you plan to not work the wetline, depending on what type it is, you shouldnt have a problem selling it.

What you get for it should cover the cost of the starter easily.

If it's the air operated type, and with the plastic Muncie tank, you should be able to fetch maybe close to $1000. 00 for it. (depending on condition)

The old cable operated type will be worth less.

HTH

Doc,

Thanks alot, they have some pieces I need.

QRTRHRS

I was at the Macungie truck show but bought the truck after wards.

Eric

I was thinking maybe a drop deck trailer with a hydraulic winch setup could be an interesting for the wet line?

Speaking of B model's.

Saw this green B made into a camper going the opposite way today. Not enough time at 70mph but the camper body looked to be maybe 24-26 feet. It was looking good though. Anyone ever spot this rig?

Well I got it home. It was sitting for, I guess 4-5 years. I pumped the manual fuel pump till I heard the fuel going over the overflow, pulled it with the John Deere D for about 30-40' and it fired up. It sounds good but it needs alot of TLC.

:D

Mack

Paul, is that the one that was sitting in the yard on the left on the road from palmerton to Liehigiton?

Proram

This is the one. The owner died several years ago. There was also a '56 Vette there. It has been restored, and is owned by a local lady.

The Truck show for about 12 years and the Fescht in August for around 26 years!! The first year I went to the truck show I had a '54 GMC Deuce & a half dump, I put my son in his car seat and tied him in with rope

Find a starter yet?

I have not been successful asking around. Maybe try this place, Krauss Auto Service, 127 Tower Rd, Mertztown, 610-682-2092. Says "Auto" but they have lots of truck stuff. There's one outside of Washington, NJ called Kober's Truck Parts but I can't find the phone number. I'll keep digging.

Watch that towing to get started. Dunno' about the older B's, but I have seen guy's rip the clutch out on R's pulling them on gravel lots.

QRTRHRS

I have accumulated a few parts. I found a guy that had a rebuilt starter, I also got a used one, and I bought a B67 for

parts.

Thanks for looking around!

It starts real easy pulling it in gear, you have to have it up in 3rd or 3rd high.

Mack
