Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) i got it

well i bought the 99 2500 today. i already have a question. the speed-o and odom are not working. i have an abs and brake light. is it the sensor on the rear end? if so what is the part number? thanks. i will try to get some pics up sometime. i have about a days worth of cleaning to do on it.

Check all your wiring to the sensors and grounds first before you buy something you might not need. If you don't have a factory manual, it would do you well to invest in one.

Speed sensor on rear pumpkin. Just have em look it up. Easy fix.



Wiring is a possibility but my money is on the sensor. Happens a lot. Of course it could be the part on the ring gear that the sensor senses. :{

i have not pulled it apart to see. i figure with 125000 on the ticker i might as well change it.

checked the fuse to see if its blown or even installed?

Measure the speed sensor with an ohm meter should be about 2k resistance. Mine was an open circuit when it went bad.

Had the same problem with the abs light and the speedo not working properly. Replaced the speed sensor on the rear diff and all the lights went off and the speedo worked once again.

i stoped by the dodge dealership and picked up one today. changed it and that fixed the problem. thanks to all for the help and the point in the right direction. all lights are out and the speed-o works.

it is a qc leather,power driver's seat, with 124000 on it. today i had a change to get it out on the express way. no cruise! i thought that when i fixed the rear speed sensor that whould have given me back my cruise. i have to do a search on it to see were to go from here. thanksagain for all the replies. i am sure i will be asking many more questions.

Order the factory shop manuals for it. That will take allot of mystrey out of it for you

What Mundgyver said. It was the first thing I did and well worth the money. My cruise started acting strange about 95k. It ended up being the diaphram unit under the drivers battery. Acid fumes must have dry rotted the rubber out. Part cost about $70 or so, did it in my driveway at home, it did the trick. Let me know if you need the numbers on the manuals.



I just went to the last page of my owners manual, it listed a number to call and order the shop manuals, took about a week or so to arrive.

i am located in collierville,tn. it is right outside of memphis. i would like to know the numbers to the manuals. also what was the number for the little vacum chamber? my batteries look like the have been putting out some acid. thanks
