I got my 2005 back with the fully built PDR 48RE today & boy is it nice! Oo.

It's just the difference of night & day.

You should have seen the inside of my 7000 mile transmission... all the thrust washers were worn right to the copper!

This is the best modification I've done to the truck & I highly recommend anyone considering more power out of their new truck to look after the transmission before going power hunting... it won't handle stock power properly never mind an extra 100 or so.

It's difficult to explain the benefit unless you've driven a truck with a properly built transmission... it feels like a different truck. Oo. Oo.

On to the TST & Twins!

JEEZE!

Only *7000* miles on a '05 transmission before rebuild?

You use it for sled pulling or something? *I* thought DC was building better trannies by now - guess I was wrong!

MM,

I suppose your right but I'm still teary eyed every time I look out on my driveway & realize the ol' First Gen is gone!

I guess I'm sentimental :(

This week might just be the week I'll do that. :D

Half the miles were towing but I was on a trip to Arizona & my trailer only weighed 7500lbs. It was not driven hard I assure you.

Would the transmission live until the Warranty was up? I have no idea nor do I care. The improvement going to the new transmission from stock is like going from a stock engine to one with twins.

Worth every penny! :D

What all did you have done and what was approximate cost including installation?

my 04. 4 has been in the shop for 2 weeks now for a transmission falure! they replaced the destroyed TC and that didnt fix the problem. now i have to wait to monday or tuesday to find out whats going on. oh, BTW... 13,500 miles non towing. truck is P. O. S in my opinion! bad injectors, crappy blown slushy transmission, 14 mpg hand calculated. truck has been in the shop for over a month since november. good thing it's not a work truck! i think that i shouldn't have to pay this months payment seeing it's been sitting in the shop pulled apart.

tobaccogrower, I'm confused. According to your sig, you destroyed a 91% DTT TC Is that right?

That was on the one he sold. ;)

SOLD. . 1999 3500, 4:10 with Mag-Hytec rear and double deep transmission pan, DTT 91%TC and racing VB, TST Powermax 3 Comp ten level, DD stage 2 injectors, Van Aaken

AK, I don't think it would be right to start advertising Piers's prices for them... I'm sure Piers, Harry or Mark can give you all that good information but I will say this... all the quality transmission builders are very competitive & if you've got one cheaper than DTT, Suncoast or PDR then likely you weren't comparing apples to apples.

New torque converter, new shafts, new valve body, etc etc.

My last transmission built was a DTT transmission that I bought through Piers & it was fabulous. Piers has always treated me like a King & never ever steered me wrong. I'm confident that they will stand behind this transmission for me & that's really all I ask.

My truck is stock at this point except the Xmonitor & 19. 5" wheels. I've ordered a TST & twins so bring on the power! Oo.

Don't make the mistake of going power first... transmission second. It will be way less expensive to upgrade your new transmission than to start over from scratch after you run metal fillings all through your transmission & wreck it.

Yes, PDR are building their own transmissions in house now.

If you know PDR then you know that anything they build is quality & they stand behind it.

I think all the well known shops do a great job, I just like having everything done by one shop so if a problem does arise, you don't have everyone pointing their finger at the other guy & running for cover... know what I mean?

my truck is stock. i do have an ez that i used for 1 hour while i had the truck overnight between trips to the dealer. it's funny that MARTY1 said not to mess up your transmission with metal filings. when dodge said they dropped the pan on my transmission they said it was full of metal! they said they might rebuild it. if i get a rebuilt transmission i'll be ****** off! not to mention all the metal thats probally in the transmission cooler!

New transmission development going on,..

I read in my Dr. 's office that Chebby and DCX were building a transmission together and was in testing and I specifically noticed it said for TOWING!! Can't remember if it was Motor Trend or Truck Trend. It was towards the back in a little box/paragraph type article and it had a picture of the transmission. It looked a lot like an Allison. I guess a modified Allison 1000.
