I have decided on purchasing a new Alumascape 31 CKS travel trailer. The 31 CKS weighs in dry at about 6,830 lbs with a tongue weight of 790lbs. I will have to take it to the scales to make sure. I am predicting a loaded trailer weight of approximately 8000lbs or so without water.
Now I need to ensure that my stock hitch and old weight distribution setup is good to go. I believe the Mopar hitch is rated at 5000 lbs GTW with a 500 lbs. tongue weight with out the weight distribution system and 10000/100 with the distribution system. I need to check my spring bars, drop hitch and ball weight rating.
Am I too close to my max weights on this or do I need to upgrade to a class IV or V setup?
