What Did You Cut When You Discovered Scissors?

Had Accident need advice.

My Granddad bought this one new in 1961. My dad has it now and keeps it at the lake. Anybody else have one?

Hmmm... a Scout?!?!?!?! :D

My friend has a '66 in excellent shape, 36,000 original miles, just needs a paint job...

"anything less is just a car"

early this a. m. (about 4:45) I passed a long-cab/long-bed IH pickup on the way to work... . and I thought kidney stones were supposed to be painful!... . ba-dap-tching!

buuut, seriously, folks: it was a long yellow truck, Californistan tag, w/ a full-floater in the back---the axle I mean!... . ba-dap-tching!--you're too kind!

might have been a 4x4, but didn't see it long enough to discern.

Dad bought a new one in '77, (scout ii) just sold it last year. It had the 345 v8 with a 2-barrel and a 4 speed. My Mom, brother and I learned to drive a stick in it. It had over 190k on it when he sold it and we never did anything to the engine. The only thing it had was this little electronics box that mounted on the firewall that went out at times. We carried a spare in it always. The body was crap, it rusted out completely, but the motor and driveline were in excellent shape. Supposedly the guy who bought it was going to restore it. When it came to deep snow or steep climbing it was the best 4x4 (without any mods) that I had ever been in.

Ours has the original inline slant four. Even has the original oil bath air cleaner. I dont know what the CID is, but I am having a hard time finding an accelerator pump for the little carb.

:D Nice looking scout. Cool that you have something that has a family history. I had a friend that had a first gen scout like yours. It was great off-road and took us to quite a few fishing spots. We responded to a Scout II diesel that went up in flames. The guy said he had just restored it a few weeks before. Bummer.

hehe, my pops used to be an IH service manager in south Philly, he owned 14 scouts from 197x (don't remember) until 1986 when we sold our last one. I can proudly say, my dad owned the FIRST diesel scout made at one point :)
