St Louis, World Ford Challenge

This weekend I hooked up with a buddy of mine, and I had the pleasure of helping out with the pyro during the Georgetown Texas Air Show. The fire comes from 100 octane aviation fuel. The blast came from a combination of det cord, dynamite, and ammonium nitrate. Here are some pictures of us setting off a few charges.

What a way to spend a weekend !!!!

5 charges made up the wall of fire in this pic. This charge was set off by the people on the other side of the fire. Only 6 of the 10 charges had gone off when this picture was taken.

This was our last charge #ad

Back in jr. High the metal shop teacher complained that we could no longer do aluminum castings cause the school would no longer buy aluminum. My brother and I found a dumpster full of "aluminum" and took it to school the teacher put it in the furnace... you guessed it, it was magnisium! Big hot fire, ruined the furnace, cracked the concrete floor. Well I became a pyrotechnic too... when you put water on a mag fire it explodes. DANGEROUS FUN!

I saw a blast like that at the Jeffco air show about 5 yrs. ago. A guy from Golden, flying a Korean war jet did a loop too close to the ground and drilled it in right in front of me! That was the LAST air show for me! Craig

I hate knowing about explosives and guns. It makes watching action movies really dissapointing.
