i had enough of messing with my boost gage :{ . maybe i am overreacting.

when i first put it in i was getting boost pressure only when the engine

was cool. when the truck was sitting on the sun on a hot day i wasn't

getting any pressure, so i changed the nylon tubing and ferrules a couple

of times. it does the same thing except cool temp. it works fine-hot day

works after driving the truck for about five miles on the street. is this normal

or do i still have a leak. ? when i pull my f/er 27. 5 it works fine, but i could

still have a leak anyway so. i like to see what you think before i get rid of

gage. thanks. should't i be getting a reading all the time ?

I only see boost build when I am getting on the go pedal under load. Under no load I can make my needle deflect, but only about 1-2 pounds.

Check the intercooler hoses for boost leaks - the bottom drivers side likes to rub on the fender and get a hole. The upper passenger side likes to rub on the AC pressure switch.

An easy way to test is to pressurize the intake. I took a 4 inch disk I cut from hardboard, filed the edge to fit just inside the turbo intake hose, then drilled a hole in the center and mounted an old tire valve stem. Pop this into the end of the hose, tighten the clamp, and pressurize the intake with an air bladder charged to 40psi. You don't want to go much higher than 40 or you may blow out gaskets. You'll hear any leaks, including leaks in your boost gauge. You should also be able to see deflection on your gauge when you pressurize the intake.

You can't get boost at idle... not hardly any when revving...

If you power brake on a hot day, or do hard acceleration, you will get boost like when you are towing... .

A turbo just don't make boost unless you get the bew ATS variable turbo and that might make 2# or so at idle.....
