Barbara Streizand up to old tricks!

I have this engineer at work who thinks that he has to explain everything to me in detail. He usually does everyone like this and is usually avoided inside and outside the plant. Somedays I would like to choke the life out of this guy.

Then the other day my truck gave me a helping hand.

I was in the parking lot of K-Mart and had to stop for someone picking up their little old grandmother in front of the store. Man, was she taking her time getting in and I had to sit for about 45seconds till they moved on so I could find a parking spot.

I parked my truck and was about to walk in the store and heard someone yell, "Hey Bud, come 'ere".
I looked over and saw that engineer sitting in the passeger side of his car and I walked over to see what the idiot wanted.

He said in an irritated voice, "What the hell are you tryin' to do, kill me?" I then realized that where I had to stop before, had my exhaust pipe pointing directly at his Drivers side window for the whole duration.

He ranted on about how his wife had taken the keys with her and he couldn't close the drivers side window and that he was choking on the fumes.

I started to tell him to go F*** himself, but I just laughed at him and walked into the store. Now he won't speak to me at work. Thank the Lord!!

WOWZY - just curious, does your truck belch black smoke at idle? If it does then I'd been ****** at you too if I was that guy.

The only people that deserve the black smoke treatment are the guys with thumping stereos #ad
Sometimes I wish I had dual exhausts so I could take care of the cars on the drivers side.

I graduate with my mechanical engineering degree in a few days. I'm surrounded by idiots like this everyday. I vowed to myself long ago to never become the know-it-all prick most engineers turn out to be. I've had to deal with a few engineers in construction and have yet to meet one I like. It's kind of funny that I studied to be one.

It's a good education as long as you don't let it go to your head.

I know a couple of engineers and an architect. I like em. They can act crazy and have a good sense of humor or can be smart and even like they have some intelligence. Good all-round guys.

Andy... wow! I think you probably have it "right on target", but never thought I would hear you say something like that... ROFLMAO!!!

The only engineers I know where I work, are all liberals. Subaru drivers with Yakima bike racks and GreenPeace bumper stickers.
We get very little support from them on complex mechanical and electrical repair issues, makes me wish they'd all chosen botany as a major in college.
Living for the day when I can pull up next to or in front of one of them and give 'em a little "Mitchell medicine".

Interesting - all the engineers I know are pretty much die hard conservatives. I'm one of the more liberal in my group of 10 mechanical engineers - I drive a CTD, own 3 dirtbikes, a CJ-7, several firearms, etc, etc. Guess it's time I re-register to vote and change the party affiliation to democrat #ad

You have to use this explanation thing to your advantage. We had one of these types at work to. If you wanted to kill an hour or so,just ask him to explain something to you. If the day was dragging a little,it was a perfect time to let this idiot tell you the whole story. When he was done, you just say,"oh",and go on about your buisness.

There's always got to be at least one of these pricks wherever you work and believe me we've got one in every department. All the rest are good down to Earth guys who actually teach you something valuable to make your job easier.

When I want to kill an hour or two, I usually make my way over to the forming machine that the brunette with the big juggs is working at. It's amazing how I can find the smallest things wrong with her machine! #ad

I wish at that particular moment that it had chugged black smoke at idle. I always wondered why the guy didn't have common sense enough to just open the door or get out of the car.

Y'all keep misspelling it- I tell you, it's enginERR! #ad

So it was your fault that he couldn't put up his window? What was he doing sitting in the car while his wife had the keys, anyway? I bet when she got out, she wagged her finger at him and said "STAY!" My guess is he's one of those nutless type of guys who tries to act like the big man at work because his wife wears the pants at home!

Are you sure he's an Engineer? I've got two fellow Engineers at work that are truly Engineers, but not the way they describe themselves... One of them is a new guy that titles his work "Senior Project Engineer", which is a title that requires about 20 years to earn.

How can edumakated people be liberals? The only time I like being around liberals is in the CTD and they're in their GEO's...

I guess it takes all types. I'm a design engineer for Toyota, & I don't know it all, as a matter of fact, I don't know I TRIED TO BY-PASS THE CUSSING FILTER. #ad
But I'm learning everyday. I'm up here in MI. as a transplant from GA. Down in GA. I'm just a typical G. O. B. (Good Ole Boy). Up here I'm a redneck - as compared to and distinguished by those I work with.

I own a few firearms (that are not and will not be registered with the local law agency) and a CTD and an SUV. Of course I have 2 Toyotas. But the 4Runner I bought because I have a 10 month old son, and my wife was carrying him around in a Toyota Celica that she's had before we got married and it had 170,000 miles on it. I figured my wife and son should be in a newer vehicle. And because I work for Toyota, I got a HELL of a deal on a 1 year used 4Runner. I got the 4Runner for $8k less than your best deal on this truck as a 1 year used vehicle from a dealer (at least)!

So now I have 2 Toyotas. But I'm still a G. O. B. , all my vehicles are manuals. I'm seriously conservative (not bombed, yet... ).

But most (85%) of the people (guys) I work with are weeny northern liberal yuppies. Now you MI. people don't get your panties in a wad. You gotta understand where I work. At a Technical Center (no manufacturing). Most of the guys who work here are either fresh college grads who know everything, or who only have 2 or 3 years experience under their belt and know everything. And 85% of these people working here think that everyone should live in a condo in Ann Arbor, drive a Prius (electric/gas hybrid) and we should just sit back and try to appreciate and abide be every little law the government can come up with. Arrrrrrrg! #ad
I get pi$$ed thinking about this. And taxes? Its OK if they increase, they're all for the good of the community. (Yeah right). Oh yeah, and you gotta watch the stock market everyday, have an account with Ameritrade, so you can brag about moving your piddly $500 around too much. Because when your in your 20's, you just have to freak out if the market drops a couple of points. Sorry, but I'm in it for the long run, I could care less what its doing now, I'm just buying, buying, buying... . I hope its cheap.

They ask me, "Where do you live?" I tell them down in Tecumseh. You should see the look on their faces. They're like, "Why would you want to live out in the country? You should get a condo in Ann Arbor, but if you have to buy, there's lots of shoeboxes for sale. Now they'll cost you more than your larger house out in the country, and you have no yard, and the neighbors house is so close you have to turn sideways to walk between your houses, and you'll pay a lot more taxes, but that's OK. This is the way you're supposed to live. " #ad

Sorry guys for going off on this, I could keep going, but I've got to put an end to it.

Thanks for the compliments Okie. And I'll talk to you later Bill #ad
.

I'm with you Jyro! The rest of the engineers that I work with have 1 1/2 to 2 times more invested in their house than I do (I live in town, but that's another story) - I don't need a 2 story 3500 sq. ft. house. On the other hand, I have alot more invested in my truck than any of them - they call me a gearhead, by the way.

Alot of it has to do with the way those people were raised. I was the second in my family to go to college, the first to get a degree. I was brought up blue collar - living in the country, working hard with not much to show for it, playing hard, hunting & fishing. I think that has alot more to do with the person I am than the degree that I have. JMHO.

At least your en-gyne-ears still get the option of at least going thru the motions of an ern-grind-beer's functions. One of the poor SOB's at work (engr. ) has been stuck with a supervisory pos'n, not supervising any type of repair or innovation work, and in charge of a bunch of Pharmacy Technicians and having to do the EMR (employee/management reviews) for Techs and for Pharmacists. He's a good guy, but hates these aspects of his job.
Maybe some of you who have the DSE's in your environments (Dip-S#!+ Engr. s) could recommend them for promotions outside of their (your!) current department... . #ad
