Battery life is pretty good actually. There are two problems with this gun though. One, the rod must stay out when you load the cartridge so it is in the way. Two, the fitting locks onto a zerk like it has vise grip jaws. Loosening the tip does not help. Probably Chinese.

Loved the story!!

I too raised hay on the side while working (after we gave up on getting rich raising horses)

I always figured I was the only guy who hated grease guns; I even acquired an air powered set up that mounts on top a 35 pound (size of a 5 gallon) bucket of grease. Yup, that thing hates me too, but you can make a bigger mess faster :>).

I still have and use it on the JD back hoe and its a rare grease job that does not involve a fair amount of cussin!

I have learned to never start to grease the "hoe" if the grandkids are around or I end up in deep do do with the spouse.

If you think that is bad, you outa try loading a wing weapons pylon onto a B-52 aircraft with one. Everything you said but on top of a 12' ladder and none of the grease is supposed to get loose and fall to the ground. Environmental rules don't cha know! But the worst is when you blow the seals in the mounting system, now you have to take the pylon down and disassembly the wing cause the rotor needs to be rebuilt. Talk about turning an hour job into an all niter. That raises the hate of grease gun to an all time high! But I also save a little of that frustration for the engineer who designed that abortion called a "pylon jettison system"

We can only get 1-2 tubes pumped out before it's dead. :( Too many tough zerks.

The newest one we have works better than the older one, but couldn't remove the tip when it wore out. That thing is stuck on there permanently! Have to unscrew the tip in the middle and replace the very end of it. Tried to see of the hose on the older one would fit, but they changed it to a different style with a relief valve w/different size hole/thread pitch.

Still works better and handier than a air-powered gun.

I have one of the tools like the one posted from Northern. I forget who makes it but I think it is a guy from up north that has a machine shop on his farm. Seems to me when I ordered mine he said he would get it made right after the hay was in or something like that. I'll look when I get home. I'm about 400 miles away right now. You fill it full of wd-40 or diesel fuel and hit it with a Hammer. Works like a champ!!!!! Will really free up a fitting that won't take grease. Usually it is not the fitting that won't take, but the bore hole underneath that has gotten caked with dirt and dried lubricant.
