You are probably right. I was just doing it wrong for 26 years.

No, I doubt that you were "doing it wrong". You were probably doing exactly what policies of your department told you to do. I understand that different agencies have different priorities, and that some "infractions" may be considered less important than others. If law enforcement personnel spent all their time issuing citations for 21654(a) (or going 66 in a 65), then it would probably be a drain on resources that would be better used for other things.

My point has only been that the CVC says it's illegal. Whether someone will be cited for it, I can't say. You're a far better source of information for that question, and I think you've answered it !

I'm not knocking women as I know men are guilty also. One evening comming home from work on a 4 lane this car passed me as I was in the right lane. Immediately behind them was a police cruiser with his overheads on. They went down the road in the left lane for 2 miles until the cruiser turned his siren on. All this time they were having a good ole gab fest oblivous of anyone around.

Where do I begin?

Here's a few things that really tick me off when driving:

1)Idiots that think turn-signals are optional... I have often wondered why people can't seem to use their turn-signals. Do they think they'll wear out? Do they think they are safer making a turn by not using them? My usual response (when their bad habit affects me) is to give them my signal(middle finger up).

2) People that think "My time is more important than yours". These people usually are on a side road and see you coming and pull out in front of you. Then they proceed(in front of you) for about a block or so, and decide to turn(making you have to stop). What really ticks me off is usually there isn't any traffic behind you, and if the loser would have waited the couple of seconds to let you pass, nobody would have had to stop. Times like these I wish I had a big plow on the front of the truck. I often have thought that the movie "Dual" was about some idiot in his car that pulled this same stunt to the semi-driver and this was why he was being terrorized (I enjoy the movie more, thinking I'm the truck driver getting revenge-except for the fate of the truck driver).

3) When I'm pulling my TT, another one that will get me going is when someone on a side road (again) sees my truck(doing the speed limit +) and thinks "Big truck coming, I better get in front of him". They pull in front of me, I have to hit the brakes to keep from rear-ending them, and then the knob can't even go the speed limit. Usually there are no passing zones, and I am forced to ride their rear bumper for the next 50 miles while they get a stiff neck from checking their rearview mirrors every 5 seconds.

I really feel that drivers have gotten worse over the years, and I have alot of respect for the professional drivers that have to deal with this crap on a daily basis. I know if I was driving in these situations everyday, I'd probably be in the slammer for vehicular manslaughter.

One question I do have though for all you law enforcement gentlemen: Have you ever given a ticket out for someone NOT using their directionals? Just curious, because around here it seems like the norm to not use them.

I also have to agree with the statement that I have found some of the more courteous drivers in Texas. Around here, it's "Hurray for me, screw you".

i spend a lot of time on the interstate between indiana and florida. the thing that pisses me off is when i'm in the left lane and the semi in the right lane can't wait to pull out to pass so he has to try to squeeze in between me and the guy in front of me in the left lane.

I don't know what you guys are complaining about I think every one drives great. They are curtous to others and always obeay the traffic laws. :D :D :D :D

Old people are the best drivers, I just love seeing thier freekin turn signal for 34 freekin miles.
