I have been luckless with tires on most vehicles I have owned, including the truck. Poor wear, odd wear no matter how many rotations and alignments, etc. But I've not seen this before. This is a Michelin Primacy run-flat from my '05 Mini. They were on the car when we bought it a few months back. I was hoping to squeeze a few more miles out of them though two were at the wear bar and the other two were close. Then I saw this. (Quarters were added for effect; do not insert items into your tires!)

You know, I've always heard of using a penny to check your tread depth. But, I think you've taken that a bit too far. :-laf

Truly sorry about your luck.

Is the Michelin Primacy also a run flat tire? I thought only the Michelin PAX tire was a run flat tire. My wife's '06 Honda Odyssey Touring had Michelin PAX run flat tires on it from the factory. We didn't like them... rough ride, short tread life, expensive, etc. We replaced the PAX tires/wheels with conventional Michelin tires and added a spare tire and wheel to the spare tire compartment. The run flat feature was useless for us since the nearest Honda dealer is 50 miles away which is the limit for running PAX tires flat @ 50 MPH max speed. If we had a flat when the Honda dealer is closed, we'd be SOL until they opened since there is no spare tire. My wife had a flat on one of the PAX tires right after she bought the van on a Saturday morning. Fortunately, she made it to the Honda dealer before the shop closed at noon.

Tire dealers didn't/wouldn't install equipment necessary to change PAX system tires so the Honda dealer was our only repair site. If I had known what we know now about the PAX system before my wife bought the van we would have had them changed by the dealer before accepting delivery. 20/20 hindsight...
