Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Mystery wire, what's it do?

In two weeks I have a master cummins mechanic scheduled to work on my 97 3500 4x4 at his garage. He's doing this on the side. I have $3000 to spend. I have 103,000 miles on my truck. My question is, what would you have done. I'm still on the original brakes so he'll take care of the brakes. What else do you all think I should have him take care of i. e. wheel bearings, torsion bar (has a little play in it).

Thanks

Frank

I have him VERY THROUGHLY go through the front end. I wish I had that amount to fix the rest of mine... . I've just about done it in 2 years though.

So far... ...

new axle u-joints

2 new hubs (one replaced Monday under 1yr warrenty)

ball joints on the pass. side

track bar

check EVERYTHING and replace stuff that is close to needing replacement now to save you in the long run.

"Cummins Master Mechanic"

I would go through the engine... ie adjust valve lash, pumps, Timing, turbos, tweaking, that sort of stuff. Use his Cummins abilities... .

1st thing, tab the dowel pin,the 97's seem to be the worst yr for the KDP to strike. Then if there's $$ left after the front end is checked out, habe him adjust the valves, bump the timing up,and put a 3K GSK,and a torque plate.
