Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) 12 or 24 valves?

I have had my 5-speed in for over a week now, and I am currently running a #5 plate in my small 160 pump. I was wondering if I need delivery valves before I can put in 370's. Will they add alot of power with the pump like it is? Also, do I need to swap my #5 plate out for a #11 for more power? Can someone shed some light here, the pump is a small 160.

I'm pretty sure that the #11 is for the 215 pumps. And also if your truck was a stock five speed i think it would have the 175 pump on it like mine. the 160 came in the auto's. hope this might help

Correct dcash it should be a 175 pump.

Running the 370's in a 175 pump will work, you might have a small stumble but I didn't in my 175. I made 360hp with no timing adjustments.

We recently made over 400hp with the 94' and several people said the dyno was low by 10-15 percent.

I have a 95' Auto=160 pump

94' 5spd=175 pump

95' 5spd=175 pump

Unless I am mistaken, the truck came with an auto, which would explain the 160 pump.

A little background on the truck.

He and Cord swapped trannies, Cord got his auto and he has Cord's 5 speed. That explains why he has the 160 pump.

Plate

The #5 auto plate has a lot of low end fueling, more than the #11 manual plate IMO. The #5&4 plates are WILD in a 215 pump!!:--) :D

I did. 370's are a bit much in a 160 pump unless you want to drag or pull. An 11 goes the wrong way (lower power). 181's (stock in a 215), 3k GSK, 215 injectors, bumped timing, and a bigger turbo housing will do it.

Check my profile, my truck runs awesome but I might have to back my plate off to control EGT's.

The 370s in a 160 pump will work without dv, but you will have a stumble around 1200 rpm but it is still streetable just a little annoying.

The 5 plate will be fine but if you have a stock turbo it will get hot fast.

To get the full benifit of the 370s you should get the DVs and a gov kit.

I made 420 hp with my160 pump and a stock turbo and a auto transmission.

It can be done but i think that 420-430 is about the limit of the 160 pump.
