I have a new Dodge question.

I'm new to the Dodge world and have a couple of questions. As soon as I sell my Ford I'll be getting a new 3500 dually. I'm looking for some info on how to tell a 2004 from a 2004. 5 while looking at them on the lot, I would like to order one but if my truck sell's quickly I won't have that option.

There are basically two ways to be sure.



1. Crawl under the truck (passenger side) and look for the CAT.



2. On the driver's side of the engine valve cover, there is a sticker there that will tell you the advertised HP. The 600 will say 325 hp, which means it's a 2004. 5.

There have been some posts that say the window for ordering 2004. 5 may already be closed (Donlen site said approx 04/16/2004 last order day). Site stated approx day for placing 2005 orders as 6/14/2004 with production then starting 7/12/2004.

Has anybody heard of any of the new options or changes for the 05?

The fan shrouds are different. the '04. 5's have a ridge through the arc of the shroud. My '03 is smooth.

Just look at the truck build date... . Those built after Jan 5 are 04. 5 and those before that date are 04's...



With the popularity of these trucks... I would be surprised if you find any 04's left...

If you are on the lot, just look at the window sticker, the 55's are $5225, and say cummin HO.



The 600's cost more, and say cummins 600 HO.

I was at the Dodge dealer today. You can still order 04. 5 for another couple of days.

Not all 600's have Cummins 600 on the sticker.

I was walking the lot at my local dealer on saturday while getting my oil changed, they had 8 or so '04's still on the front of their lot (with more 600's in the back). All were SLT with a 48RE except for an ST dually with a 6 speed.



They're still out there...

The order window for 04 closed 5/18/04 if my info is correct. Mine was ordered 5/17/04... . that was close!! rumor from a Dave Smith Dodge salesman is 05 my have a sunroof option.
